Trip to Paris, Barcelona and Madrid, any Rolex Sports Steel Models?

I’m going on vacation next week to Paris, Barcelona and Madrid. Want to buy a Pepsi, Batman, Daytona or any other Rolex sport steel model, any advice or suggestion? Maybe there will be more luck getting any of them in Europe than America.

The lack of sports models isn’t just here in the USA it’s world wide. You won’t find any of those in Europe. I was in Madrid and Barcelona August of 2018 and didn’t see a single SS Sports watch. The situation has definitely worsened since then.

Someone posted here a few weeks ago no luck in several European cities. Paris and Barcelona were on the list. Amsterdam airport had nothing today. I’ll be checking Berlin over the weekend, Munich next week and CDG on the way home.

But I’m not getting my hopes up. I do wear my Daytona in when visiting, hoping it sends the message I’m “not a flipper.”

Frankly you will have better chance to get them in US than in these cities. Your odd to beat those massive amount of professional buyers and chinese tourists is close to zero.

Keep seeing these posts.....

Just waiting for the first one saying travelling from Europe to NY and SF and hoping to pick up a black and white Daytona at a discount.

Although to be fair, I do recall the odd good luck story in Italy.

The whole shortage thing started in the UK in 2016. Says a lot.

Nothing in Munich, Frankfurt nor Strasburg two weeks ago.... one AD had a security guard at the front door saying "no ss sports watches, only what is in the window is available" in other words, don't bother our sales people... f-off... that was in Munich...

Enjoy Barcelona, which is a magnificent city with the best food. Rolex SS, forget, in Spain there is a Rolex rule that sports SS can only be sold to people in the country.

I think you might get lucky. When I ask ADs for ss Rolex they allways answer; "sorry, we are saving them for Americans visiting the largest cities in Europe".

i love munich, but i also kinda hate munich cause of stuff like this.

as far as the OP...

seriously? do you really think it’ll be that easy to just pick up one of the three hardest to acquire watches on earth by flying across the pond? you can just stop off in a NYC or Miami grey and buy whatever you want, for a premium. but you could also include japan, switzerland, england, italy, austria, germany, holland, belgium, poland, the moon.

i just... don’t understand this mentality. folks waiting years for these pieces and people assume they’ll just be able to find them elsewhere. in today’s global economy and market, these watches are gone the second they arrive.

i’m sorry and i hate to be negative, but at the same time you’re going to have to be realistic. those three watches ain’t happening, regardless of where you go.

I'm going to steal that line when we get the next thread asking the same thing.

Don’t be silly, NY doesn’t have them sitting in windows,
Europe does though... lack of demand there

I just returned from a 2 week trip in Spain. I wasn't on the hunt for any Rolex watch, but I did stop into AD's that were nearby where we stayed just to see what they had. Ended up visiting AD's in Madrid, Barcelona and Mallorca. Similar to the US, no SS Professional watches on display. I had a good conversation with one of the sales guys in Barcelona...he mentioned the "shortage" in Spain happened around the same time it did for the US. Unlike the UK where it's been hard to find a SS Professional model for as long as I can remember.

Enjoy your trip...but I wouldn't waste your vacation time trying to hunt down a hard to get SS Professional model.

I also visited ADs in Madrid last month and experienced the same thing - nada on SS sport watches. I was swiftly offered a discount on a Cellini and politely declined. Enjoy your time ... wonderful places!
