Got a text from AD this morning

Finally a text/call came. Not a GMT CHNR, BLRO or BLNR but just happy that getting name on a list actually works. I’m gonna pick up one of these blue DJ41s. Which would you get?

The Jubliee

I always felt the jubilee looks best on a dressier watch!

Impossible choice. I think it would boil down to the jubilee/fluted version hiding scratches better.

Smooth on oyster, it’s far less fussy and far more casual.

I’m a fan of the oyster bracelet, but fluted jubilee is all the rage right now

I'd take the more comfortable of the two on my wrist.

Before you buy though, were you waiting on a DJ41 or are they getting you to spend to climb the ladder game?

I said I wanted GMTs and/or Blue DJ 41. They were actually very cool about it and didn’t overpromise a GMT. Said on both DJ and GMT it would be a matter of time and we want to be fair to all our customers. They came through with DJ41 Blue in about 3 weeks so I’m happy. Now the wait on GMT...

I went with the smooth oyster in SS. Just seemed more casual to me. I will say, though, that I later added a TT fluted DJ for the more dressy style (which I still wear with jeans and trainers).

I’ve always thought the dial on a DJ is actually rather sporty as it has the seconds printed at each hour marker, so the fluted bezel isn’t such a good match, as that’s far more dressy. I think the casual smooth bezel and oyster bracelet fit the sporty dial much better.

Fluted with jubilee for Dj

Save the oyster bracelet for the sports models!

The jubilee with fluted bezel has a lot of detail that gives a nice contrast to the minimalist candlestick marker dial. Opt for that.

It's certainly a plus that it also happens to be the most in-demand modern Datejust at the moment.
