Two Tone vs Stainless
Curious to hear everybody's opinion on this - I think I know teh answer. I am a fan of the SS/gold two-tone but the the SS is really in vogue. I have my 36 year old DJ two-tone and just purchased the GMT II Rose Gold TT. My kids tell me the TT are for old people - which I am, but has the TT always been viewed as secondary to the SS? Or is this just a phase? When I purchased my first Rolex I just purchased what I like, now reading the forum posts, I am definitely influenced by the SS bias. Curious to hear what people think of the TT - I've heard "wanna be's", and curious why people do not like them? I always viewed the TT as the classic Rolex.

Continue to buy what YOU like. While I do not own 1 two toned watch, I think they are the best overall value out of any Rolex, especially if you are looking at a Daytona.

Used to not like 2tones but a couple of years down the road I like them now so much that I’ve not worn a full SS for months now. Phase or not it’s here for me.

I love TT, but the bias against is kinda ridiculous.

I think TT is trash for the most part. Only exception is the CHNR and even then, the full-PM versions always win out for me. TT seems like a half-ass attempt at upscaling the piece.
SS or Solid for me. TT just doesn't look right. Again, this is my own shitty opinion. Pay no attention to it. |

I'm not a fan of TT, and I do think it looks like an old man watch, but the CHNR is the lone exception.

I generally don't care for two-tone... but, I admit I really like two-tone gold with black. For example, the two-tone blue submariner does nothing for me (even though I usually love blue watches), but I think the two-tone black sub is very sharp.
That aside, though, I'm mostly from the camp that if you want gold, buy an all-gold watch. |

TT has the 80's retro thing going on. Can you dig it?

I think TT watches are beautiful. I wish Rolex would severely limit the production of 116503 TT Daytona and make it a unicorn just to mess around and have it become the new hype watch.

I still wear TT. I like most of the Rolex pro lineup so I do not discriminate. Still find the Sub LB TT to be a beautiful watch, in fact wearing it today. TT can look dated but suits me as I graduated in 84 so it is nostalgic for me. The TT Sub LB was also my first Rolex back in the late 80's. I would guess that I will always have a TT watch in my collection.

You said it yourself. This would be all I’d pay attention to...forget the hype. After you log off TRF, you need to be happy and like looking at what’s on your wrist |

TRF is the only place that TT haters gather. LOL
Everywhere else TT sells like hotcakes - If they werent selling Rolex would have ditched them decades years ago. New TT SD43 is the bees knees and waitlists is over 20 long at my local ADs Anyway I'm a big big TT fan. SS is boring as hell. TT adds color and makes the watch much much more luxurious imho. How can you not love this. This effin looks sick!!!! |

I don’t think it’s TT vs SS, I agree with the others that say buy what you like, so for me it’s TT and SS, no difference as long as I can rock it.

Own both SS and TT. Oddly enough, my last two Rolex acquisitions have both been TT.
They both have a place and I think the outdated view TT is for 1980’s car dealers is exactly that.....outdated. In fact last car dealer I bought from was wearing a BLNR and selling PT Cruisers. Go figure! |

I wanted the tt blue sub for many years. I finally bought one and sold it after a year. I couldn’t get used to it. I did like my ss sub though.

Wife and I were sitting at a table having dinner with another couple.
I was wearing a SS Daytona, my friend a TT and both wives wearing their TT DJs. A guy comes up to my friend and says, “wow cool watch, that’s a famous Rolex right, a Daytona? Mate says “yeah, my buddy is also wearing one, but the SS version!” pointing to my wrist. The guy glances over at mine then goes straight back to staring at the TT and asking him questions about it. Not all covert the SS over the TT., but each to their own.

I am 22 and I love TT. Most my peers seem to think it's a old man style. I guess it can be explained by my general tastes. I think F40 and Testarossa are most beautiful Ferarris ever produced (followed by one modern car, LaFerarri). Similarly I prefer Countach over Diablo, so I guess my aesthetic taste fits with older stuff.

Check out the secondary market prices on SS Daytonas vs TT Daytonas. Hard to believe how much more the SS is getting vs a watch with actual gold in it

TT using RG won me over with my DJ. The colour of the YG version just didn't sit well with my skin tone.
