Pelagos LHD

Evening Gents,

I'm in the market for a Diver and am strongly considering the Pelagos. Tried it on at the AD and it fit great. The Ti makes for an easy wearing watch even though it is considerably larger than my daily (36DJ). I love the looks and functionality, especially the cool bracelet and am close to pulling the trigger.

First question; i really like the cream colored dial on the LHD and they only make that dial in the left hand configuration. I like it more than the blue or white dials but I've never worn a watch on my right wrist, even though I write with my left hand. Has anyone here made the jump from left to right wrist and did you find it acceptable or annoying? I guess i could wear it on my left wrist but I don't think it looks right with the crown on the wrong side. I never adjust or wind my watch when it's on my wrist, I always take it off.

And last question; value. List price is around $4400, but there are a few for sale in the classifieds that are practically brand new. Those are selling closer to $3k and come with all docs. What % discount would you consider a reasonably fair deal on a new one be? How about lightly used from a trusted seller? FWIW, I'm on the 'list' for a HULK with this AD but I don't expect a Pelagos purchase would make any difference in me getting that Hulk any sooner.

TIA

As a lefty, i wear watches on my right wrist. I love that the crown is on the right side of the case when I wear a watch on my right wrist. Never worry about crown digging in.

Wear it on your left wrist as you normally would. The crown on the left will add to more comfort.

Wearing a watch with crown on the left hand side is not unique remember - for example, many Tag Heuer Monaco watches have the crown on the left, and that is not considered a watch for left handed people only. Go for it!

Go for it...

I had one - wore it on left hand. Never bonded with it , traded toward Seamaster 300M and couldn’t be happier. Before pulling the trigger I highly recommend checking out the SM300 in person and looking through the threads in the omega subforum of TRF

Love it. Recently wore it in my right as I hurt my left wrist. Felt odd at first but got over it quickly. Interestingly the watch looked different to me on the other wrist as you see the other side of the case when looking down. I liked it more. Brilliant watch either way. I have a feeling it will be collectible in the future. Different, numbered, not super popular. Just watch! Those that sold them for $3000 will regret it one day.

Not to take away from a great watch, but they are ubiquitous and sit in AD cases ... so don’t think they will be “collectible” more than any other Tudor diver

I am an owner and the LHD is a great watch. I also own the blue dial and can not tell you which one I would part with should I have too. The titanium case, great bracelet and clasp and the dial and lume make for quite the package. I would see what the AD that you are on the list for the Hulk will do on pricing. On brand new from an AD with no buying history I would expect around $3500, all in. You can save a few hundred more off pre-owned from our Trusted Sellers but I would say that it is not worth the $200-300 savings on a pre-owned watch. A purchase from the AD might not help you get a Hulk sooner but it does prove you are a customer and not a tire kicker. I would buy the Pelagos and start enjoying it. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I understand what you are saying regarding the sitting on shelves but when those dry up or go back to Tudor or when they discontinue it then there might be a rush to buy. Remember the Daytona?

I have a Speedy so am a fan of Omega. The current Seamaster doesn't do it for me though. Is there an older version with the date window at 3pm and without waves?

Like the watch very much. When I looked, I was offered 10% off, which put me at $4000, plus another $270 in tax, so out the door at $4270. I have no history with the AD. Somebody mentioned $3500 all in, but when I pushed for more off than 10%, I was politely told no. YMMV. So, if I purchase, I will go preowned, where I see them around $3000.
