Best Grey Dealers in London, recommendations?

Hi there

I am after a new DJ41 but as an AD can no longer order these pieces as they are now allocation only, I assume it may be very long before mine receives one in my desired combination (smooth bezel, jubilee, black, blue or dark rhodium dial). Therefore I am thinking of seeing if any grey dealers have them in stock in London.

Can anyone recommend a good one to try? I assume there will be many around the Hatton Garden area?

It seems to me that as there are so many different combinations of Dj41’s, if they are allocation only surely it is very unlikely that a customers preferred combination will just turn up at an AD.

Many thanks in advance!

Yep! Which is exactly why I am thinking of going grey for the first time, as I imagine the chances of an AD receiving my specific desired combination would be relatively low when the sheer number of possible combinations is taken into account.

at WOS yes you have to fill out a form of interest for that along with the SS professionals. Basically anything not sitting in the case every day so diamond dialed DJ 41's for example, you dont.

Then they run your name across the group (which is huge) to make sure you are not on other WL for the same watch esleware.

As far as not being able to order from Rolex, probably you cant for the popular variants, some non standard config probably. I got the same spiel on a Pt daytona. More than one AD said they use to be able to order one if they didn't have one but you cant anymore.

Official watches in London are supposed to be very good however have never used them personally. Friend had a great experience buying a yacht master there.

A number of London-based grey market dealers with proper shopfronts sell on Chrono24 so suggest you have a look on C24 for whatever watch you are specifically looking for and see if one if the London dealers has it in stock.

I can recommend Dominic Hackett of Hackett Watches highly (based in Hatton Garden). Bloombar Watches in Mayfair, too.

The Burlington Arcade dealers are all more expensive (although have some stunning pieces and great for browsing).

I’m currently looking at getting a new Speedy from Dom. My brother got a new IWC chrono from him at 20% off too. Good guy to deal with, I intend to check out his store when I visit later in the year.

My dad, brother and I have all bought and sold through Dominic. Highly recommended. Had an issue with a 16610 not running very well and Dominic had it sorted very quickly.

David Duggan in Burlington Arcade also beyond reproach and offers great service. Balances higher prices with excellent stock offering...

John is a top bloke, very trustworthy. Charges a premium compared to some, but you can rest assured if there are any issues, they’ll be sorted.

I would still go through AD. While they do not take orders anymore (which is ridiculous, totally getting out of hand), DJ regularely pop if you go once every few weeks.
Everytime I went I could see a dark rhodium on jubilee (fluted or not).
Blue one is rarer, do not see many whites either.
Agreed there are many combinations so it weakens your chances, but if the bracelet is the wrong combination you can always order the other type (to be honest i believe it's very worth it having both bracelets for the DJ, so hard to choose so.. why choose!)
Good luck!

Many thanks, will definitely try Hackett watches, David duggan and watches.co.uk!

I tried on a DJ41 a few weeks ago and was blown away by how light and comfortable it was, made my SD43 feel like a brick.

I was at an AD a while ago ... went to look at a DD40 Plat ice blue dial /Blue Romans .Took my DJ41 smooth/silver dial/jubilee with ...same size, smooth bezel, jubilee vs president.

Placed them next to each other and make no mistake the Plat DD is stunning ,but my first remark was, amazed how well the DJ compared against this heavy weight ..

"DJ41 with smooth bezel and Jubilee is the biggest bargain in Rolex world "

Same question.... who would you use to sell?

I might be moving to London in a few months and thinking of moving on from my 5512, 1016 and Flat 4.

Jonathan from Tempo and Time - great guy.

He might not have what you are after in stock but if you are genuinely interested, he will help you find one.
