Is it Possible to Get A Price Break on a Hi-Beat GS?

Hi All, dumb question perhaps. It’s time I gave up on the Explorer II and have been instead considered going for the lovely SBGJ203. Is the steel sport watch craze crossing brands? I mean I know it never hurts to ask. But should I harbor any expectation for anything but a laughing shove out the door when I start negotiating? The last two GS boutiques I’ve visited (London, NYC) were very lonely, quiet establishments so I think there’s at last a small chance of 5%. Looking for a little morale support. Thanks.

Depends on the model but 20% is often possible in Japan, Hong Kong, etc. Not sure about the US.

Most brand Boutiques are difficult to get significant discounts. They are usually good for a ball cap, strap, bag, etc. I would look to a GS AD and go from there. In person and ready to buy also helps.

I would give Dan at Timeless Luxury Watches a call.

I think he's the owner. Bought my snowflake from him. Seems like a very good guy.

I would say it would be difficult at a Seiko Boutique but an AD will certainly give a discount.

You should get 15% off- visit the AD in Menlo Park mall in Edison (forgot the name). BUT, why are you giving up on the exp2???

I'm beginning to give up on the ExpII as well (5 digit). It just rises and rises in price (very quickly lately), and harder to find clean example too.

Alternatively, GS would be where I would looking next, although starting to get the bug for an EXP1 now (not the 39mm).

I was wondering about this today. Fell in love with a SBGJ217. Does anybody have experiences negotiating with this specific model?

Can any SBGJ203 owners advise if the 14mm thickness means the watch sits high on the wrist?

Thanks

Hi-beats are a little tough in my experience... best way to save is on the secondary market. Even then, they can hold good value even though not a lot of folks seem to be buying them.

I acquired a SBGJ217 in the Sebu store in Yokohama about a year ago - fell in love with the watch and went for an impulse purchase - a delightful experience, a little like the Rowan Atkinson scene in Love Actually - boxes, and wrapping, another box, some ribbon, more paper, then a bag, also tied with ribbon etc and the whole sales team bowing in line to see me off - no chance of a discount, but you get the 8% vat back.

Its my favorite watch no question.

I'll post a picture when i get the chance.
