Oysterflex bands
Hi all,
So I’ve got a Submariner bluesy. I work in telecoms and climb towers, handle steelwork etc on a daily basis. The ceramic bezel and glass is basically bullet proof however, I’m always taking extra care with the bracelet. Is it possible to get my AD to install a Oysterflex band to the watch? I don’t particularly like the look of it but I wear the watch daily and it makes more sense for me than potentially destroying a perfect bracelet. If it is possible, what is a ballpark figure on these bands? Thanks in advance. :) |

no, rolex wont change to another type of bracelet /strap for you. but certainly you can buy a third party strap and change it yourself.

For the Bluesy, and given the durability that you will need, I would recommend this strap:
https://www.vulcanwatchstraps.com/our-straps# People will understandably suggest Rubber-B, but they are best when worn with the clasp - which is not really what you want to be doing. You may as well keep the clasp and the bracelet in good condition, to be switched over when not working.

You have things back to front. If you hit your watch against some metal while at work it is the bracelet that is most likely to survive (albeit with scratches).
The sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel are most definitely not bullet proof. A moderately hard knock against metal could easily cause them to crack/shatter. My professional advice option one: wear the watch and just avoid carelessly hitting it against a metal tower. Deal with repairs/replacing damaged parts if/when it happens. Insurance is good for this! Option two: buy a g shock for work. |
