Incoming and a question about extra links

Hello everyone!

I was lucky enough to get the call from the AD last week. The call came just before lunch time so I was over at the AD in 5 minutes (I work close by).

Over the weekend I realized that there are no extra links in the box. It fit me great without the need for the AD to adjust the bracelet. I only have a 7 inch wrist and I am a bit surprised that there are no extra links, plus my sub and my wife’s DJ came with extra links.

While I don’t need them right away, it would be good to have in case I get heavier in the future or if my son will need them after it gets passed down to him.

I probably should have asked before I walked out of the store, but the purchase was a little bit of a blur – I was still in shock that I was getting the opportunity to buy the new BLNR!

I plan to go in and ask the AD this week, but it would be helpful to know if members of the forum have received a similar amount of links with their BLNR purchase.

The sub bracelet is longer. If you got it from an AD and it fit without intervention there would be no "extra links." The extras are not extras they come on the bracelet, removed to fit owner, and generally returned to the box.

I've heard that the Jubilee bracelet is traditionally shorter than the oyster.

I have a 7.25" wrist and both my Batman and Pepsi were adjusted to fit me at the AD. Now I have two extra links for each one of these watches set aside for the future that were in the bracelets when the watches and bracelets came out of the coffin box.

That seems odd very off. The watch should fit writs larger than 7 inches. I can't imagine, if I bought a batgirl, that I would have to order extra links for my 7.5 inch wrist. Seems sketchy to me brother!

Your missing links, no way it can fit 7" out of the box with no link removal, unless it's very very loose.

Is the ez link all the way in on the clasp? If so, it can be adjusted a good distance out without more links. Last 2 I bought new from ad were all the way in. Makes a big difference.

As for the links...does your AD have a preowned selection of Rolex watches? Could be they are keeping the links because there's no way there aren't extras after sizing a bracelet down to 7 inches. Not all, but some ADs pull this stunt, especially with precious metal.

You should find out how many links are standard with that bracelet/watch and then count the links on your bracelet. Somebody on this forum will know how many links are standard. Then you will know if your dealer "mistakenly" kept one or more links. Dealers like to have a few spare links on hand to help their best customers when necessary.

Yes - the ez link is all the way in, so I do have some "outward" adjustment if needed. Thanks!

I like the idea from AboutTime on how many links are standard and comparing to what I have. If anyone knows that answer, I would greatly appreciate it. That will be good info to have when talking to the AD.

This AD has treated me right the few times I have bought from them, so it seems strange that they might be keeping them or holding them back.

I don't know the part number of the Jubilee bracelet used on your watch but on the DJ36 w Jubilee the stock now 23 link bracelet was reduced in size in 2010. On my Daytona, I removed one link from the full bracelet. On my Bluesy I removed 2 links from the bracelet. On my DJ36 I used the full 23 links. In fact I bought one extra link just in case the bracelet got tighter over this summer. (it hasn't). My wrist where I wear the watch is a tick larger than 7 in. So in my experience the SS Tool watch Oyster bracelets are quite a bit larger than my jubilee. Again the key is what is the part number of the Jubilee bracelet. Do me a favor and count the links and let us know how many there are. My DJ AD had the extra jubilee link in stock so I bought it from them. I will keep it so anyone that inherits or buys that DJ will have an extra link should they need it.

BTW, my Jubilee is the 63600 which has the hidden clasp so yours likely will not have 23 links. https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-bracelets

There is also a micro adjustment on the clasp. Three positions for adjusting. It should be in the middle hole from the factory.

Hi J7son - Congrats on your watch! Not including the endlinks, my 126710BLNR came with a total of 18 links from the AD. Not sure how you counted 23 unless you counted the endlinks and also the 1 link that is attached to the clasp, which I don't count. I believe factory setup is 7 links at 6oclock and 11 links at 12oclock, with easylink set at middle "hole". I removed 2 links for my 6.875inch wrist (6 at 6oclock, 10 at 12oclock) and am using the outermost "hole" with easylink closed. An extra link costs $74 in Canada (guessing around $60USD) and can be ordered from your AD. Hope this helps.
