Get to try my grail today
I’ve waited long time to see the white dial Daytona in person even had my name on the list for more than 2 years . Today I stop by my AD they have one but sadly it sold before me , I don’t know what number I am on the list ,so I don’t know when will be my turn to be able to buy one ,but for sure it’s a beautiful piece !

Yes indeed it is. I hope you get yours soon! My AD offered me a black dial and I took it even though I really like the white. Well, I like them both frankly!

Get to try my grail today
Assuming they’ll sell to you, if you’re top of their mind, it seems to come down to "being there" just as one comes in.
That’s what happened to me. Pepsi gmt landed the night before and I happened to call first thing next morning. It was charged within 2 hours. At the same dealer, a friend missed on Explorer I & II by a day. Sold in minutes. I would pester them every week. Find out when they typically get their watches so you call before and after. I kept at, and always empathized with them for the tough situation Rolex was putting them in with their customers. Good luck. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have both a black and a white face. White face is easier for my eyes to see the time. Both are gorgeous and the Daytona was very much my grail. However, after the thrill of the kill wore off, a few months later of wearing it daily (black or white face) and just being in awe over the Daytona, I became less enchanted with it because of one missing complication: the date. I like having a date on my watch; more than I realized until I wore the Daytona daily. Now I wear the Daytona as more of a weekend or special occasion watch. It has become more ‘jewelry’ and less watch for me. My daily driver(s) is a GMT Pepsi and a SD43. I love Daytona(s). The Daytona is iconic to say the least with a strong pedigree, story and lust in the hearts and minds of many which virtually guarantees it is a safe bet for future value. But, if telling time and the date and using a watch as a watch is the more important task, GMT II and SD43 are my go to pieces.

You would think, right? AD told my wife I'd have a White Dial Daytona in a few months after she bought the RG DD for me.
That was last year (when I also purchased my second BLNR, a DJ II and a IWC from him). Loyalty is not rewarded by this AD. I stopped asking because after spending $100k+ with him he tells me, literally, I'm not that big a spender and he has guys who spend millions with him. |

My AD has no feeling for the good relationship I’ve been in and out buying a lot but he’s doesn’t seem to give a shit on being in good relationship with me .

I absolutely agree with this. My grail was the white Daytona before the ceramic was released. I will never forget where I was when I saw the announcement of the ceramic Daytona on my phone. I was extremely excited followed by the years of frustration and final realization I was never going to get one. Finally decided to go grey once I saw the price of them get to 19,000. I feared it would continue to go up and up. Got it and was extremely excited. opened it right there in my front entranceway of my house after shutting the front door when it was delivered. I could not even wait to get into my home office or the kitchen table to open it. Sat there on the front stairs in admiration. put it on and wore it around the house and then the thought hit..... "what is the date today.....looked down and I did not realize how much I actually use my watch for the date function during the work week" Ever since then the SD43 has been my daily even though I find it a bit big and prefer the size of the Daytona. I have often thought to trade the Daytona and get a two for one such as a gmt and a datejust or a sub date and a datejust but I just cannot let the Daytona go. I still love it but what I once thought was going to be my one and only and a daily is in fact my weekender

Wow had no idea people still wear 10k plus jewelry for a function. If I wanted functionality I wear my Apple Watch 4. I wear these for the look and history. Function follows form the Daytona looks way better than any modern day Rolex imho.

Like others I cannot do without a date,,,habit or learned behaviour from my first watch at 10 yr old,, Daytona’s are wonderful watches and look superb but no date is a deal breaker for me,,,
