It survived Dorian and arrived!

Though Dorian ended up a non-event in Miami, it looked iffy for a while, and the madness of hurricane preparations caused some delay. But yesterday, Fedex finally brought this lovely WG/lapis lazuli 18239 DD.

Lapis lazuli dials seem to be pretty uncommon in WG, and I’d originally thought I’d want any lapis to be on YG anyway, but it seems there’s just something ... ‘right’ somehow about the look of a blue dial/white metal Rolex (whether SS, WG, or Pt).

Lapis lazuli is my favorite dial on 5 digits DD's. Would love to find an original 18238 with lapis lazuli dial some day.

not my pic -

Agree. I've never seen a WG lapis like Clay's, but a few months ago at breakfast there was a gentleman wearing a YG lapis. I never comment on stranger's watches, but we were walking past each other and I told him that was my favorite dial of them all. He said, "I think they stopped making it."

I like that style a lot.

Whoever doesn't appreciate late 70's - early 80's watch design has no soul.

(Going to buy a 1979 Eldorado now.)

Not to create undue temptation, but there’s one currently FS right HERE on TRF, IIRC it’s even from a Trusted Seller.

Thanks to all - I can’t stop looking at it, in the sun it’s quite a sight.
