Rolex stopped after one day of winding. Datejust 36 model 19234 (1988)

Just last week I bought, my Rolex Datejust from SwissWrist in LA, and my watch Datejust 36 model 19234 (1988) stops moving while on my wrist second day after I wind it.

I went to Rolex store they say something could be wrong with the movement. Trying to contact seller and find out what can be done, any suggestions?
Should I return it, or seller should do maintenance on the movement?

What condition was it described to be in when you purchased it? Did they offer a warranty or explicitly state it is sold as is? A 31 year old watch will definitely benefit from a service so that should be kept in mind if they made no specific reference to it having been serviced by them before sale.

Possible watch could need a service, but wearing a watch does not wind the watch, its wrist movement that winds the movement.Try a full manual wind thats 40 plus full crown turns clockwise only, then should run between 39-48 hours off wrist give or take a hour or so either way.

3 Years warranty came with purchase, I went back to seller today to do service. They have a really amazing watchmaker Oscar, he took my whole watch and movement apart, cleaned every single piece of it, lubricated all pieces, put it all together and tested parts in front of me, it was such an amazing experience to spend 3 hours with Rolex watchmaker observing him working on my watch, he worked on Rolex watches last 50 years. He says, no service was performed on this watch, so automatic mechanism stopped working properly, everything was also electronically tested during my presence, everything was covered by their warranty. It works now, just like new Rolex watch! I'll upload some exciting images of my watch apart.

I went today to Swiss Wrist and they did whole maintenance, cleaning and lubrication for me covered by their warranty. I spent nearly 3 hours with watchmaker Oscar who worked on Rolex watches for over 50 years. He says there was no maintenance preformed for long time so automatic movement stopped working. It was amazing experience to see watch fully disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and put back together, only part he replaced was main spring, he also pointed out that all parts in may watch and band where authentic. Observing whole process and being part of it definitely makes me appreciate my watch more now. See images below.

Nice! Pretty sure the unlumed Roman numeral dials "should" have unlumed hands, but it looks good nonetheless!

I found Swiss Wrist on Chrono24 by chance.

They had the blue stick fluted DJ2 on oyster that I wanted, as that combo was surprisingly hard to find. Great Chrono24, Google and local Yelp reviews, and I also called the owner on the phone so I felt good about my first Chrono24 transaction.

Very pleased with the purchase and experience, and very happy to hear stories like this about them!

Watchmaker's skills are incredible, he told me he never had a drop of alcohol or smoked a cigarette.
