Advice and help with 16710
I have a question about a 2007 D-Serial 16710 I am interested in.
This particular piece has the coke bezel and oyster bracelet from factory. If I were to purchase this watch, I prefer to change the bezel to all black and onto a jubilee. I plan to take it to Rolex London to get it serviced, would they be able to make these changes? I don't mind sacrificing the coke bezel and the oyster for these changes, but I preferably wanted a brand new bezel and jubilee. OR will Rolex only supply a new jubilee bracelet on GMTs that originally came with a jubilee from the factory? If this is the case, which year/reference GMT should I be looking at that came with the jubilee as standard? |

Rolex St James should be able to get the black insert and jubilee sorted for the 16710, both of which were options, with you keeping the original coke insert & oyster bracelet.

I stopped by St James a couple of weeks ago and they swapped out a pepsi bezel for a coke one for me. They did add a 50% mark up however to allow me retain the pepsi bezel. They also mentioned that they were about to commence major renovations which would significantly limit their capacity to carry out some aspects of servicing in particular the quick fixes such as bezel insert changes etc. Their intended new facilities sound fairly amazing though....lets just hope the watch supply situation eases up to compliment that!

Bezel insert changes should be easy. while there was a jubilee technically offered with the 16710 at one point. RSC, at least here in NY, does not consider that bracelet to have been originally offered with the later serial numbers like the D serial. I’m not sure about London but they wouldn’t sell me one here for that watch.

Answer to both your questions will be a confirmed yes. If I can recall, the jubilee bracelet will cost you about £850 and the bezel inset £55 if you want to keep the old one and £39 if just replace and let them keep your old insert. But as mentioned earlier, do check as they will be closing for major renovations soon.

Hi OP.
Try for a complete new bezel assembly. It makes changing over from one insert to another a lot safer and easier.

I just purchased a 2005, F serial 16710 Coke. I called NYC RSC about changing to a Pepsi insert. No can do I was told. I'm waiting to hear back from the DALLAS RSC.
Ticks me off that in Europe (at least in GB) it's not an issue but in NYC it is. Don't they realize they are fueling the aftermarket? |

Reviving a slightly old thread, but had a question of a similiar vein.
Is there anyway to tell what bezel/bracelet configuration came with a particular 16710 with only the serial number available? Or is the only way to check with the full paperwork? Asking as im currently looking for a 16710 Pepsi but have no idea if the ones im looking at buying are originally black/red or black bezels to begin with. |

No, the insert has no relationship to the serial number at all.

That's good to hear that it should be no problem, curious on the bracelet they offer. I never could understand why NY doesn't play ball on this one, after all it originally came one way or another and not like someone's trying to fake anything. I wonder what NY would do if you sent one in without a bracelet or bezel.. Anyway your in London so it sounds like your good to go. In the states it seems Dallas is preferred. Good Luck...

I suspect the Coke to Pepsi change is more prevalent. That said, you would only know if you had papers issued - during a particular period of time - in the US. the papers were coded to ID bezel insert colors for GMTs |
