Is the Blue SkyDweller the hardest Rolex to source from an AD?

I am writing as I have been on a wait list for 10 months and i got a white face Daytona already despite asking for one 5 months after the blue sky dweller request.
Obviously things like Rainbow Daytona’s are a totally other story but it does seem the blue Sky Dweller is the hardest in the realms of mortals.

That's been my experience so far as well and one of the very few SS Rolex I haven't seen in person.

In the big picture the Skydweller is a niche model. We like them here but most typical Rolex customers aren't walking into dealers asking for a $15K+ SS watch that looks like a big Datejust. Far less of them are made than the more mainstream models.

i agree fully.

If you are number 2 waiting at an AD vs being number 15 for a daytona, you will probably get the daytona first. hence its probably harder to get if the sky dweller is your niche

Agree with this. Big Datejust with some added bits in the dial was what I thought when I first saw one.
I actually think the white Daytona is harder to get.

Yeah I’m only regretting selling by blue sky dweller which I got right after Basel because the hype train continues. From a collector standpoint it just would fit in nicely with my other watches but I ultimately made the decisionto sell the watch because it just didn’t sing to me (not quite a dress watch and definitely not a sport watch) the white Daytona fits that hybrid sporty elegant spot much better. Ultimately sky dweller in steel will always be a hard to get watch watch as movement is complex and production will remain low to push people to buy gold.

All 3 rainbows are difficult to source from AD. I will also add the white Daytona as being more difficult than the blue Skydweller given the higher demand (nobody knows the real production numbers), probably due to legacy/history and popularity of Daytona.

From personal experience that wasn’t the case.
I have been waiting a year for a blue SD and got a white Daytona in 4 months

How about the all gold Daytona with green dial? I am told that you can’t even order one. The SD is definitely a hard watch to source. But as many mentioned. It is not a everyone/everyday watch so it’s exclusivity is higher than Daytona

Seems True. My ad never received a blue one but they expect the first this year and i'm 1st on the list) They get 3/4 SS daytonas every year.

I've been told by numerous ADs around the globe including my own that they get far less SS Sky-Ds compared to Daytonas. The Sky-D in general is very hard to source from an AD, so consider yourself fortunate if you're able to obtain for MSRP.

seems like everyone here with a good AD relationship got their daytona C. Same cant be said for people who would buy a blue sky dweller if they could get it.

Yes, it is. My AD in Belgium said they get far fewer SD vs Daytona. It‘s a great watch and at MSRP a bargain for what it is compared to Daytona ;-) as it has useful complications and is man sized....I love my blue SD!

This wasn't the case a couple years ago. The complete explosion of SS models is within the last year/year and a half, I'd say.

People were buying GMTs at MSRP a few year back. Seems like a different world now...

My AD has only got one since release, and I have it.
Since then they have received numerous other SS pieces, including 4 daytonas this year
I will likely never sell it, I believe the MSRP is far too low anyway
