DJ36 vs DJ36

To clarify...trying to decide between the older stye DJ36 vs the somewhat newer DJ36. Is the upgraded movement and the 'upgraded' clasp on the newer DJ's a material improvement? After viewing the older ones, I think the dial with the minute track adds charm and character and the hidden clasp (though lacking the adjustability) adds to the package too. Both would be new so the price gap is not drastic. Thoughts and opinions? Anyone ever been or is in a similar situation and went one way vs the other?

Either way, I'm looking at a jubilee/smooth bezel combo in a silver dial or blue dial.

Both are very nice, but I prefer the minute track with tiny Romans, as well as the hidden clasp bracelet. I also really like the “roulette” date wheel. The new one has the better movement though, which has more power reserve, and possibly better durability.

All in all, I prefer the older model, but I’m biased.

I much prefer the hidden clasp from previous generation jubilee but the current gen case is a upgrade.

New DJ 36. It's a no brainer. It has nice thinner lugs, a cleaner dial, 70h power reserve, easy link. Why even consider the old one?

This. Especially the points made around the roulette date wheel and hidden clasp. The roulette gives you a different look everyday and I never get tired of it. It's also nice that Christmas day is always red :). Not sure if the new DJ has this feature but it definitely should! When I picked up mine I thought the only way to rock a jubilee was with the hidden clasp, there's a level of elegance that's unmatched with it. That is until I picked up my 126710 blnr the other day and realized that the oyster clasp on a jubilee is simply magical. Definitely more sporty and feels like a bit of the old and new worlds which is great. Also something to be said about the new movement, that's always great. Haven't seen the new one yet but I'm sure it's fantastic. Try them both on and see what feels right. Good luck!

Since you want the jubilee bracelet, I would go with the old DJ36 with the hidden clasp

Also, the hidden clasp jubilee with fit the sub, gmt and Daytona I believe

I haven’t heard If the new jubilee does the same

So I you’re one of those people that might want to put a jubilee on a sub or Daytona one day, consider the old one

Also, a plus of the new movement is the power reserve, but not everyone needs that

I daily my DJ36, so a power reserve of 10hours or so would still work for me

Also, the 3135 in the old one is a proven movement

So don’t let “old movement” scare you from the older version

It’s not like it’s an iPhone and if you don’t buy the new one you’re missing out on the three new cameras

New one has the better looking case and lugs like the old (vintage) DJs models. So get that one.

The previous one was way too square.

Depending on your wrist size the older model will have more 'wrist presence'. It wears larger than a regular 36mm watch and would be my vote.

I only own the old one and still loving it. Are you looking for a brand new? If it’s the same price I would probably choose the new model with better movement and overall upgrade. If the price difference is more than US$3k I will go for the old model.

I have the new model, and love it. But I never use the link extension, so I would prefer to have the old, hidden clasp. But, then, I prefer the slimmer look of the new case, which is more important to me than the clasp.

I just got the new DJ36, black, stick, domed, oyster. The 70 PR is nice. But for me personally, really like that the new minute track (vs old railroad).

Hmmm gonna need to look at the side by side of the lug profile. I was not even aware of this and to me, that’s going to make the major difference between the two.

I love my hidden clasp on super jubilee but that is literally the only thing it has over the new model. If I were to do it again I’d def go for the new one, it’s an improvement in every way.

With the Jubilee the older hidden clasp is the way to go. The Jubilee links are so small you can easily get a perfect fit without a huge clasp with additional adjustments. I also love the railroad tracks and I wanted the White Index dial which is not available in the 126234. And frankly the old movement has been an absolute tank for decades so I preferred it over the newer less proven movement. I sourced mine in March so had to hunt for a 116234, but I found one.

Some of the olds ones do. My new black one is non-roulette though.

No not all of them have it, only certain dial colors came with it.

Somebody posted a list on this forum once, about which dials came with it and which ones didn’t

My DJ is older with non lume markers. I love it but the newer DJ's are beautiful.
