Up or down?
So 2018 was pretty rough year and to celebrate getting through it I wanted to buy a Milgauss. Unfortunately, I live is Aus and the chance of getting anything in steel for your average arsehole off the street is somewhere between buckley’s and none.
Anyway I’ll be hitting a year in remission soon and I figure life’s too short so I’ll have to go up or down market to get something I like. I’ve basically narrowed it down to a Speedmaster Mark II, or a Lange saxonia thin. Do I buy the sensible Speedmaster and risk not scratching the itch, or go all out on the Lange and risk overspending and having to pay for insurance so I don’t lose $20k on a doorknob? I’m not going to DavidSW, because to me at least the extra couple of grand is a good chunk of change and I’d feel like a sucker who overplayed for a used watch every time I check my wrist. So is it up market or down market? |

Try getting the Apollo 50th not much of s down move there. Beautiful watch and you probably have better than a Buckley’s chance(lol) since many are cancelling their reservation due to Buzz Aldrin’s butt on sub dial nonsense.
Beautiful and historic watch. And half the ALS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s definitely a cool watch. I don’t really consider Omega down market as much as settling. Also should we really still be patting ourselves on the back 47 years after we lost the ability to go to the moon? NASA needs to get a ride from the Russians to get into the ISS, so maybe a Vostok is a better call :P.

Most of the Milgauss for sale by the trusted sellers on this forum are either below retail or just slightly above it. Unless you are wanting to pick one up from an AD in which case lib am very unfamiliar with the Australian market. |

Have asked an AD about a Milgauss? I love my Z-blue. It is always worth a try. I’m with you 2018 completely sucked.

I also think that a Milgauss shouldn't be too bad from grey...

I don’t know the right answer to this question, but the Saxonia sure is a beauty!

OP, you are making too much out of this. First, forget your feelings. Feelings have no place in the purchase of a watch. The facts are: you are in remission, life is short, and you want to enjoy a fine watch. So pick the brand that you want, really want, and buy the model that you can afford.
And don't let anyone make you feel guilty for paying over MSRP if you have to do so. It is YOUR life and YOUR money. Do what YOU want. |

Milgauss 116400GV is $8200.00 MSRP in (US).
Here is a trusted seller with a NIB 116400GV for only $495.00 over MSRP (US). Not too bad at all. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=699845 We have no control over the unfortunate challenges life may throw our way (I know first hand). All we can do is accept it, be optimistic and defeat it. So, enjoy yourself and wear the watch you really want in good health!

OP, as you stated life is too short, you are in remission, celebrate and get the watch you really want. I understand the concept of not wanting to overpay but, retail or slightly above is something you are going to forget about once that Milgauss is on your wrist
