What do people think about Audemars Piguet?
I think I have two types of watches I love. One is of course Rolex but the other I've found out recently I love are Audemars Piguet (the ROO to be more specific). The design of the bezel seems not only rugged but elegant at the same time and I just love the ones with rubber or leather bracelet. They have a special touch to them. Just wanted to see what others think about it.

Can't think of anything but great things to say about them. I don't own one yet, but hope to. I've tried on most of the models, and am going to the AP Boutique tomorrow for the SIHH Trunk Show with all of their forthcoming releases (see link below).
Friends and relatives have them, most more than one. Flat out beautiful watches! http://horomundi.com/forums/main/rea...,2500#msg-2500

I have an AP Skeleton I was given by my father.
He purchased it new from AP in France in the 50's or 60's. Its a beautiful watch... AP and Patek are both drool worthy!

Did someone say
? I bought this one last month and I LOVE it. Total 180 from all my Rolexes and it's very very hard to go back. I've worn various TT and SS watches before, but this one catches the most attention from other people. PM me if you have any questions about it.

I really love the ROO but just have no use for a Chrono....
They are GREAT looking watches though! Scott, that one really looks stunning!

Fantastic ROO Scott!
Too high roller for me, for now, though....

Audemars Piguet are really completely different to Rolex. They're cases are thicker & more prone to knocks & the metal a little softer, but just feel so comfy on the wrist. If you get one, be prepared for some serious costs if you get it serviced or need an extra link.

They're excellent watches, but not my cup of tea. I do not like the way they look. In my opinion, they look very boxy and chunky.

Or were you just referring to the Offshore models? Because these are quite different:

This is probably the most beautiful watch I have ever seen. It is my "if I ever hit the lottery" watch. Does anyone know the MSRP on this?

I like the ROOS Chronographs, particularly the Navy version. But the resale value is horrible.
Blowers Jewellery had one, 2006 with all the papers for £8750 with the MSRP being £12,975. I like the idea that you see very few of them in the wild, in comparison to the Daytona's. AJF |

I agree...at least wrt the Offshore line. I can respect & appreciate the craftsmanship and quality that go into the watches, but those cases, dials & bracelets just don't do it for me...too blocky & busy IMO. Reminds me of something I would wear during my youth when Transformers action figures and any type of robots were popular.

I love the Perpetual! I wish I pulled the trigger 6 years ago when the dollar was stronger! The ss is almost double the price now. I'll still get one but, just don't know when...

I had several ROO's in the last years. Only one thing, you said the bezel look rugged ... but in fact it's crap. It looks nice but you'll get dents and scratches VERY, VERY easely. That's about the only bad thing about this watch

Just a side note. It's really amazing how in tune we get to the space our body occupies. Put a watch on that's a few mms thicker and you're banging it on door cases, etc. |

that is correct. a few mm more than you're used to and you'll hit some walls ;-)

The rose gold ROO with black rubber bezel and strap is my ultimate watch... I need to become a stock broker first though for one of those!!
