FSOT: Rolex - 1655 - Explorer II - Serial 535xxxx - 1978
Hello and thanks for looking!
For sale or (reasonable) trade is this Rolex 1655, Explorer II, serial number 535xxxx, from 1978. This sale includes the 1655 watch on bracelet, along with the previous "worn out" bracelet, and a non-period correct Rolex box. This watch is a beautiful and perfect example of a lived-in Explorer II of its vintage. I won't name any names, of course, but this thing is "cool!" Or maybe it's just a little bit disco; that part is for you to decide. Priced at: $20,000. I am willing to entertain trades but please keep in mind that 1) the watch will have a higher value in any trade and 2) I'll only reply to reasonable trade offers. Payment by wire. Shipping will be included, and fully insured. FedEx overnight with Parcel Pro. For TRF (paid) members with strong, verifiable references, I am willing to accept PayPal but will require an additional 3.5% for fees. I am also glad to meet in person for a F2F transaction in Los Angeles or Orange Counties, but only at a bank of my choosing during normal operating hours. I acquired this watch from its original owner, who bought it brand new in 1978 and wore it daily for the next forty years. I have owned it for less than a week, but have worn it on what was a NOS bracelet for the last few days...because I wasn't going to miss out on the chance to wear one of these! The open-case pictures were taken Friday, October 18, 2019. The watch currently runs well, though about 10 seconds (per day) fast with wear. The watch is on a mint condition 78360 Rolex bracelet (with proper 580 end links), with 12 links (one extra not on the bracelet currently) and a clasp code of T1. The previous (very well-worn) bracelet (a 93150) will be included in the sale, as well. I do not know the service history on this watch, though markings on the inside of the caseback suggest service in its past. The serial number is etched into the inside of the caseback, as well. Any photos below that represent an obscured serial number are photo alterations ONLY. All appropriate markings on and in the case are distinct, unaltered, and clearly legible. I am glad to provide a 5-day inspection period with this vintage time piece. So long as the watch is returned in identical condition as when it was delivered, I will provide a full refund (minus shipping charges) if this watch is not as described and pictured, or does not meet your full satisfaction and expectation. I pride myself on great communication, fast shipping, and excellent customer service. Please check my references here on TRF in the "Who's Who" section. I am also available to answer questions by phone/text message/Whatsapp at: +1 Five Four One Eight Zero Five Two Six Six Two. Please do not hesitate to DM me here at TRF or phone or text me directly with any questions. I am eager to ensure that you get all your questions answered and am glad to provide more pictures/macros as needed. Thanks again for looking! |

I wanted to answer a few common questions and provide a few additional photos that will (hopefully) help answer still more.
1. At this time, I am not selling the old 93150 bracelet separately. 2. I have put the watch under the UV light. The only slight lume that I see is on the minute hand (please see the photos below). 3. The UV light also clearly shows that the GMT hand was, at one time, orange. I have tried my best to capture this in these new added photos below, but it has proven difficult to capture in the picture. The one below with a slight orange hue is the closest I've been able to capture it, but the sides of the GMT hand, only the sides, reflect an orange glint under the UV light. 4. I'm open to reasonable offers and will reply to any realistic, respectful, inquiries, but I'll ignore the obvious lowballs. Thanks for the questions. Below, please find some additional pictures for added perspective. |

Thanks, TRF. |
