Oyster bracelet

Hi guys I'm a bit of a newbie, I have an 18k sub it's a 1988/9 and it has pins instead of screws holding the bracelet links together rather thank screws, is this normal? When did it change? Thanks John

It should be screws though...

What is the reference number stamped on the clasp?

Early President bracelets did have pins, so it may depend on what bracelet it has; a 30 year old watch may have been fitted with a replacement. It also may be aftermarket.

I think 18K Subs did use push pins at around that time. Don't quote me on it though..

I agree. There was another post a few months back where the OP had a similar topic and his AD told him his watch was fake. The consensus from all here was that the pin bracelet was appropriate for his era and nothing to worry about. Trying to find the thread.

A 92908 was the predecessor to the 93258 modern Sub Date bracelets.

The former used push pins, and the later used screw bars.

They only press out one direction.

Fantastic guys thanks for the info my watch was for sale and I had a potential buyer knock it back on the advice it might not correct, I've found a few on the net that also show the same pins.
Thanks again

Anybody can attach images using the paperclip/upload, as long as the file size is within the proscribed limits.

Yes the problem was the size of the photos, and I couldn't downsize them on my phone.

A gold smith could do it. Rolex will want to replace entire bracelet at the cost of a 2nd and 3rd anus hole.

Man... you learn something new every day. If someone would have told me before reading this thread that Rolex used push pins on a gold Oyster bracelet for a Sub I would've laughed in their face.
