Urban Jürgensen Stainless Alfred Dress Watch in 40mm
I like this. I did think it was too big in 42 so nice to see they decided to scale the size down. Beautiful watch.

I really like this watch. A proper hand-wind that straddles between historic and modern. The only thing holding me back is the self-justification for paying ~$18,000 (out the door) for a steel watch. While steel case is great for sports watches, it may make a dress watch feel “too light”. Perhaps when they become available at ADs, I’ll see if a discount is possible...

Great to see them scale this down. Excellent watch with a great movement. Unsure why the price increase though..

Ah, I see now. Still feel like a SS clasp should be thrown in at this price point.

I wouldn't be surprised that if it would be thrown in if you asked the dealer.

I have the 42mm UJS "Alfred". Easily among the favourites in my collection in terms of aesthetics and wrist time. Perfect blend of modern and casual with tradition and elegance. Hands, case and dial are finished to an exceptional level you will not even find in holy trinity while movement finishing is also very high-end with several sharp internal angles (most difficult to chamfer and polish since this can only be done fully by hand). I would say you have to turn to someone like Voutilainen to find better overall attention to detail and finishing. Add to that a very balanced and aesthetically pleasing design.
The price difference is due to the deployant clasp on the 40mm, I special ordered a deployant for my 42mm and the price difference was similar. |

The 40 is a much better size but I think the subdial is too large.

I'm planning on picking one of these up in the near future. Got to try one on and completely fell in love with it.

Have any wrist shots during the try on?

Beautiful watch. Is that a printed dial? It somehow reminds me of the Longines Heritage collection, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s just that $18K seems a bit steep. Though I understand that’s mostly due to the movement and overall quality. Still, Longines represents a good alternative value proposition.
