A little off the beaten path. Incoming!!!

So, right when I saw the seiko presage and prospex anniversary chronographs were announced, I really wanted one. As per usual when I want something I research the crap out of it until I know everything there is to know. During my research I stumbled across some awesome seiko chronographs that I knew little about. Like the Pogue, or the sdgz’s and what not. But then I read this article about seiko modern chronograph movements from worn and wound:

https://wornandwound.com/chronograph...-chronographs/

After reading this article about the now discontinued 6S family and the only current mechanical 8R family of chrono movements, it was clear which one I wanted and it was the 6S, which shares heavily with the 9S/8L family of movements from Grand Seiko. It’s a really good article and you should read it.

all of this research led me to Credor and their now defunct Pacific chronographs. I ended getting the GCBK997 which is a limited edition from early 2000’s.

Nice pick up Joseph. Has it ever been serviced? How is it running? Huge congrats!

Thanks...totally have no idea when and if it’s been serviced, but as of right now it’s running great. The chrono pushers are smooth and silky, and the manual wind is very smooth to operate also. I’ll probably go awhile before I send for service as long as it’s going good.

The bracelet by the way is phenomenal, with the a very nice gradual taper that I love.

They packed a lot onto that carbon fiber (?) dial, yet it still looks easy to read. I think the reserve indicator puts it over the top (I never had that feature)... Just really like that dial layout. And yes, if it's running good, I wouldn't touch it.

Wow very unique looking piece. The orange on carbon gives it a very retro look.

Between where you started and where you ended up, I definitely think you made the right call. Very nice, looks great!

Learned a lot in this thread.

Thanks. This bracelet really is very well made. Now, my goal is to find a half or whole link on this thing...should be fun. It fits almost perfectly, but come summer time and it’ll be real tight.

I learned a lot too. I think these Credor chronographs are a steal I think. Great finishes throughout and the movement is great too. At sub 2k this blows the newer chronos out of the water.

Yup...I love being able to see the column wheel, something you don’t see on the 8R’s
