Convince me OP's (114200 or 116000) Work as Good as an Explorer with a Strap
Hi All.
First time poster, long time lurker. I've been on the fence of purchasing a 114200 or 116000 now for over a year. I've tried a number of them on and love the simplicity of the dials, case fit and a few of the different dial colors. I also love the Explorer (114270 or 14270). It is an entirely different watch but also has some similarities to the OP. One of the reasons I like the Explorer is because I find it more versatile of a watch. From what I've seen, the Explorer beats the OP in its ability to look wonderful in a number of different strap options. My ask is that you provide an image or two of your 114200 or 116000 in any strap configuration. I'm trying to convince myself the OP has at some chops when it comes to adding another element other than metal. |

116000 blue dial is and actually gives the same conventional explorer look with a dramatic blue dial.
I very recently happened to do a review too if you wanted to have a look. https://youtu.be/D1b2jETaKJo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Recently picked up the 116000 in blue and it has not left my wrist since. The blue dial is stunning and I find the watch to be beautiful, but understated.
There are a few threads around here that show the watch on multiple straps. I think it is quite versatile and have seen it look good on leather and even nato. |

I don’t have mine on a strap, but here’s a few photos showing off that stunning blue dial in the sun.

Looks good on a strap! I think the OP 36 will be my one and only Rolex. It’s extremely comfortable and versatile, especially after I added an Easylink. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm also in the market of Explorer but AD has been offering me DJ41 and OP36 which almost identical. I stood my ground on 2 occasions when we talked.
If AD can't give me Exp before the upcoming holidays, I may consider OP36. |

Thanks for everyone who posted.
I appreciate the push toward the 3-6-9, 116000 but I'm 100% interested in the 116000 model with index dial markers. I should have made that clear at the beginning. I get that the 3-6-9 seems like a Explorer/OP mash up to have the best of both worlds but honestly, I really dislike it. It's like an El Camino to me. Either buy a truck or a car. I like what each Rolex model offers on their own. I usually wouldn't be so bold as to give my opinion unless asked but since I started the thread, I guess I'm taking liberties. Please, keep the OP's on straps coming! |

Ha! You know, I thought about that too! I am a child of the (very late) 70's...
And with my comment above, I do want to clarify that even though the 3-6-9 isn't for me, I do feel like the blue is the most gorgeous of the dial colors. If it came on another combination, I wouldn't hesitate to go that direction. And Ssunnylee24, that is what I figured I would get from this thread. That the Explorer is, in fact, more versatile on a strap than the OP. I don't want it to be true but I'm not finding much evidence in proving that theory wrong. |
