Op39 or JLC master control date

Planning a short family trip next week and I would like to trade my speedmaster professional moonwatch, not getting any wrist time lately, with either a op39 slate grey or a jlc master control date. The only watch left in my small collection is a blnr. 90% of the time I dress casually and I think both of this watches are versatile and would fit my needs.
Wich one would you choose.
Thanks for feedback.

Very different watches. Dressing casually the majority of the time I'd wonder how much wrist time the JLC would get?

OP, I think that Jlc is a bit boring and bland, the Master ultra thin moonphase would be a nicer choice IMO if you want to go the jlc route.

Had a JLC many years ago. Did not get wrist time. Traded it on a Sub.

Your mileage may vary. JLC is a nice watch, but does not have enough heft for me.

If you shower, swim, gym, sleep with your watch then the OP, I’d fit and forget and take it off once every two months to set the time. If you take your watch on and off a lot I’d go for the JLC, it’s more interesting IMO.

IMO, you have a versatile stainless piece in your gmt already. I like the idea of the jlc, but might suggest master chronograph instead of the mc date.

I would look at an Explorer I as I think it is a more interesting watch than the OP. In the end I might keep the Speed Master and put it on leather or a few NATO's.

Tough one, but I'd go with the JLC. You have a SS Rolex already and the JLC is a nice complement to the collection. Also it's a beautifully understated watch that dresses up or down nicely. Full disclosure that I am thinking about adding one to my collection, so am a bit biased :)

Not even close for me. OP39. It's the most understated and elegant Rolex out there and the true OG as they say.

I have a BLNR and an OP, they make a great pair

While they both get a lot of wrist time the OP gets the most, just so comfortable and insanely versatile

You want versatility, reliability, go with the OP39. Some on this forum will argue that JLC is a top movement manufacturer that supplied the Holy Trinity watches, however, anecdotal evidence says they may not pay the necessary attention to the lower end spectrum of their offerings.
I am nevertheless, fascinated by the brand and looking forward to buying a Reverso at some point.

Disagree that both are versatile. Granted I wore a 39mm black diamond face Movado before I was able to buy a luxury mechanical watch EVERYWHERE and it was 100% a dress watch. So versatility is irrelevant if you feel comfortable With it.

However, casual, I would 100% go for OP.

If you dress casually most of the time.....OP for sure.

That JLC is very nice but it is a proper dress what imo.

The JLC is the more beautiful watch, but the OP more casual

If you are considering your blnr as your everyday watch, in this case adding something different as the JLC is a good option- dressy, elegant, with leather strap.
But if you want another watch like your blnr for everyday uses like sport, swimming etc.
I would go the other route-the OP should do the job.
In my case I own a JLC master control date, but at this moment I’m wearing my Explorer 214270, and it’s what I’ll wear this afternoon when doing some work. But tonight when I go out to dinner, I will wear my JLC. As I mentioned before, it’s an elegant watch but doesn’t break the bank. Even though I generally wear one my Rolexes for everyday use,, the JLC is still pretty sturdy.

Casual? OP

The JLC is definitely more dress and probably would get worn even less than the omega speedmaster

I’d also second the suggestion to look at the Explorer 1 214270.
If you find that you use the micro adjustment on your BLNR often then know that the OP doesn’t have that.
Since getting my Exp1 it has stolen wrist time from my Daytona’s 116520/116500’s which prior to the Exp1, were my most comfortable watches.
The OP is the same case and bracelet other than the bezels and clasps so it will be a comfortable watch if you can size it to work without the need for a micro adjustment.
