Code 11.59 limited edition - Russia
I live in Russia, where AP has just opened a new boutique and released a local limited edition code 11.59 automatic with smoked blue enamel dial and bolshoi theatre image engraved on the rotor.
Check out their Instagram for the images, but in the metal it is definitely the only code 11.59 automatic variant that actually made me consider buying the watch... ...until I saw the price ~USD42k, almost USD16k more than the standard code 11.59 automatic. They said their will be 99 in total, about half available this year. Finally they introduce a version that looks remotely attractive as a buy and they add more than 50% to the price?? Am I missing something? Do they not want any of the code 11.59 range to fly?? Walked out thinking the 15400 on my wrist might be my last AP. |

That said, yeah it is pricey... They should have made a steel enamel dial at 20-30k 99 pieces. Those 99 probably sold but it was a lost opportunity to gain some market presence for the code... shame... |

Lots of money in Russia and Little Russia, London, so not surprised at his targeting. The Hong Kong Victoria Peak one has probably been put on hold.

Still seems like a huge missed opportunity - adding something special to an already great watch would make sense for the price, but this just pushes clients further away from something already unloved. |

I am not sure this piece is going to sell well here - the salesperson mentioned one other potential buyer that came in with a bolshoi theatre model from 10 years ago and was “thinking about” it. My impression was that I might easily have been the first buyer. |

They can enamel it all they want - it was and will always be a failure until they fix the dial on all variants - and I'm not even sure this will make it sell.

I could be wrong but I think as of next year the Code will no longer be boutique only and will be available through the ADs. The Code line may have single handedly saved the ADs from APs strategy of bringing all sales in house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Having gone back to the other boutique in town for a second look after the initial sticker shock wore off, it really is a beautiful watch...
Doesn’t seem to be any chance of them running out any time soon and a second batch in 2020 so a lot of time to think on this still... Definitely feels like there is a risk that I might end up convincing myself to go for it... Also the code QP aventurine dial is stunning on the wrist. |

I have never seen a Code in person, but from seeing the photographs it does absolutely nothing for me.

On the plus side, seems like if you happen to be in any city with a boutique it is pretty much guaranteed for now that you can try on at least half the line. |

Nope. Can't make that one look good, no chance. Why they are still wasting money on that thing with special movements is beyond me. Just call it a failure and move on.

I think they should completely rethink the dial. Lose the date. Make it steel and 15k. lol
The amount of discounting that will need to take place to sell these at ADs is going to directly counteract the progress they have made on cutting that part out of the business model.

Not that I’m the biggest fan but it does actually look pretty good in person. Do I think there are better watches for the price - yes of course but the pure hate it gets is not justified. It actually is a cool sporty version of a dress watch that looks pretty good on my 8 inch wrist.

Each to their own, but it does absolutely nothing for me. I really dislike it. Just seems to be one big vibrant blue empty dial. I also find the date window position very unbalancing visually. I know its positioned similarly on ROCs etc, but with those relatively active dials its ok, but on this it just doesn't work. I know other people have said it, but it does resemble an inexpensive mall 'designer' watch.

Does nothing for me. For the price (albeit can not fault the quality) you would expect aesthetics...

It looks strange that put the date between 4 and 5 o'clock.
I can understand if it's chrono watch. |

As next strategic step, AP may come out with a new limited edition code 11:59 in steel and price it above gold or platinum as everybody knows that good quality steel is so much harder to fabricate than gold.
