Chuck Yeager GMT Master 16700
I had been intending to post this a couple of weeks back but completely forgot.
Recently returned from a trip to Tokyo for the Rugby World Cup and while taking in a day's shopping in the Ginza district, I stumbled across this very unusual GMT in a second hand luxury goods store. The Real McCoy's Chuck Yeager 16700. I was surprised at having never heard of it before, despite being a GMT owner, but managed to snap a quick (slightly out of focus) photo while the sales assistant wasn't looking as I'm not sure they'd be too fond of photos. Here a link to an article about Chuck, which some of you may find interesting. The man is an absolute legend! Obviously the watches contain aftermarket modifications but like myself, some of you on here might not be aware of the story so thought I'd give it a share. Very cool to stumble across one of only fifty in existence. http://www.woundforlife.com/2015/07/...-chuck-yeager/ Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk |

Which games did you make it to in the World Cup? There were some great games! Were you affected by the typhoon?

Interesting mod’ed GMT. They (Real McCoys) sure are proud of their work for $24,000+ USD.

So I worked in an aviation store located in the Mall of America (Bloomington, MN) in 1995-1996. Chuck Yeager stopped in and I met him and specifically remember him wearing a Coke bezeled GMT, which guided my first purchase to a Coke 16710 several years later. Perhaps Chuck was a WIS and changed his inserts periodically! Chuck also did promotional work for MN based Northwest Airlines and appearead in Company literature wearing the same Coke GMT.

I heard Chuck speak at a Cisco conference years ago. Most memorable line, as he recounted the tale of how he successfully evaded his pursuers subsequent to being shot down...

It is rare because it was customized by the Real McCoys and produced in very limited numbers. I can’t vouch for the valuation being valid just because of some red ink and engraved caseback.
It’s an homage of sorts applied to a genuine Rolex. Is there any additional information that the customizer actually had Chuck Yeager wear any of these models for a period of time in the ‘90’s? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
