Prices falling fast

At last there is a huge price realignment taking place, Daytona, Subs and GMTs have took a nose dive in the last month or so. I'm seeing the same watches being advertised, then listed again at lower price points.

Long may it continue.

Where do you base this on? I don’t see this at all.

Noticed the same here watches been sold on the internet are not selling quickly if at all.
Example Goldsmiths used watch site has flattened with 53 watches for sale including Serti sub and GMT which have been on site for days .. 4 months ago there would have been less than 20 watches the day dates selling in a week and a constant turn a round. The Serti and GMT would have sold in 2 hours....there are changes occurring.. long may they continue

Prices falling fast

I don’t think the price is falling fast but definitely less than before. For example, Chase at Nashville Watch, a trusted dealer, is selling an used Pepsi (1 year old) for $16.5k.

I also saw that Thanh (aka Takuya) sold an used 2019 black GMT for around $10.9k recently, which definitely cheaper than what he was asking a few months earlier.

I don’t think huge.

But, there is definitely price drops across the board

Do I have proof? Just use your eyes

There is no evidence of this nose dive in S Florida. The same watches continue to walk a steady like of increase. It is something I’m in the habit of checking every day, just because. Locally, our ADs continue to have display cases empty of the most desirable sports watches. The grey market resellers continue to be very busy as well. I will certainly pay even closer attention and report back any movement.

*** Please advise the specific region you are witnessing a price reduction and kindly also provide the back up.

I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to call bullshit on the price fall. Some quick research of sites I use: https://www.watchpricetrend.com/

Interesting. I personally don’t care. My SS Submariner Date , and SS DateJust will never leave my wrist. Keepers.

A slight correction but not the HUGE realignment you mention.
I’d see a HUGE realignment as ceramic Pepsi/HULK/BLNR etc selling preowned at RRP of just marginally above.

Not a single six digit on there. Collectible 4 & 5 digits are still strong, but from my observations 6 digits are stable or falling.

I wouldn't nominate Chrono24 is an accurate indicator of what watches are actually selling for. In most analysis, absolute values make headlines but it's the trends which matter. And the trends for my Rolex watches are as follows:

All are being advertised at an average price above MSRP.
116610LV Flat for two months. Now picking up again. The occasional brief flat spot over the past two years but no indication of any drop over that period.
116613LB Steady 12 month growth overall. Some ups and downs. Overall trend is up.
216570 Currently flat at its highest level ever, after a brief dip and subsequent climb in Q3.
116400GV. Big climb last year. Peak in Q2 2019. Small drop. Now slowly climbing towards earlier peak.

While the LV is the obvious star because of all the silliness, the Polar is now turning into a bit of a diamond. None of this matters to me. All my watches are keepers, including several models which now trade at a fraction of their original MSRP. But since I check into Chrono24 occasionally to check up and make sure my insurance cover is adequate, I thought I would pull and share some data.

What I find does not support the OP, at least for Sub Dates. Although I can't speak for other models and I wouldn't set any store in absolute asking prices - one way or the other.

No real drop from a technical analysis viewpoint - just natural pull back from the peak as is normal in any asset price.

AD prices are still the same and that's where my watches come from so unless Rolex is lowering prices at it's AD's or offering discounts not going to affect me at all.

Exactly.

Right now dealers are offering record low offers for anyone looking to sell their BLRO and Daytona and all the other hot models and day by day the price is getting lower.

Yawn. Prices have been dropping since June. If you had a finger on the pulse you'd know that. You just see the rest of the world following suit because prices in Hong Kong haven't been going up, up and up. All greys are somewhat interlinked to setting the price.

Yesterday a used 2013 Hulk sold for $10,240. No papers, but on the condition it will be checked for authenticity at AD.
a new Hulk 2019 for $14,152
a new PP 5712 for $72,747
New TT Bluesy for $11,835

I'm not an expert, just quoting the prices here for members to debate. will be posting more next week if any interesting sales happen.

I was in Italy last week, the prices aren’t dropping, but clearly the watches are staying longer on the shelves.
Dealers aren’t yet reducing the price but their feedback is it is slowing down.
If the trend continues we would see some price dropping.
As always the prices will drop after I purchased my Daytona Zenith.
I always buy stuff at peak price.....

Speaking of Hulk, How about 14.900 euro for a G-series?
