Temptation

I just purchased a pre-owned TT Blue Submariner and SS GMT II. I am being tempted to buy another Rolex since this might be the best time to buy another pre-owned Rolex. What does anyone recommend for a third watch?

Thanks
Allan

I'm afraid the answer to that question depends largely on the size of your budget. A 5K budget will get one answer, a 50K budget will get quite another.

That said, I would probably be looking for a DayDate to round out the collection.

Good luck!

You now have two Rolexes that have rotatable bezels, circular number markers and Cyclops date windows, all three hallmarks of the "classic'', standard Rolex look. Why not go for something different and non-standard, like the Daytona, or perhaps a Milgauss? Good luck!

So, if I decide to buy a another Rolex (either a Daytona, Deepsea Sea-Dweller or a Green Milgauss), which one would you choose and why? Also, does anyone ever use the chronograph on the Daytona? Does anyone ever swim or dive with the Deepsea Sea-Dweller?

Thanks
Allan

Also, can you easily buy a Dayton, DSSD or a Green Milgauss from a GD or pre-owned at a good price?

Thanks
Allan

I vote for a DJ or DD. Need something a little more dressy to balance out the two sport models.

Go Allan!

The dial on that TT blue sub has a very nice tone of blue Eddie.

From those I would take the GV. Simply because I love Green

But I would suggest a Datejust to balance out your collection

With your collection and the prices of some of the watches mentioned I would consider ss daytona for historical purposes and/or a patek or audemars as a more formal watch. A friend wears a vintage gold zenith on black leather strap and that watch is quite understated and elegant as well.

The gv seems to be a really fun watch and I considered it, but I wondered how much I would enjoy it 10 yrs from now.

I would hate to abuse fate when someone is down, but for the right price,
say, one-third of list, I might be tempted to add this Datejust to my pile.

But in reality, besides each person being different, I feel a need for a slightly smaller, more casual Rolex.
It will be interesting to see whether one can like a 34mm after wearing a 36mm.
Or whether this will be an experiment in buying a watch which my wife ultimately uses as jewelry.

I'd go for a nice vintage 5513 or 1680 Sub, prices on those have really come down. It's easy to find good deals on modern pieces, however, until recently, the same could not be said about vintage pieces. Good luck,
~Scott
