Icon19 Explorer 1 & Submariner 2 pc Collection

AD called , he can have a Sub [ no date ] for me this week - Told him please do !

I used to think it was an either or deal with Explorer 1 / Sub no date

I wear the Explorer 1 and thinking probably keep it and wear sub as well

how many folks here have & wear both ?

Had a chance for the OP 39 White , thought it to be a good compliment to explorer
but decided against it too similar in most aspects aside from dial color

Both are classic pieces, I thoroughly enjoy my 214270 MkII & 116610LN. Own what you enjoy, dont worry about outside opinions!

Good call passing on the OP. I think it’s wrist time would have suffered severally next to the Explorer.

I don’t think you go wrong.

Personally, I already have the explorer 1, and I recently passed in a sub no date.

I’m waiting for the sub date. I sign a lot of paper work in my profession and like the date function. If I didn’t need it I would have gotten the no date.

For me they have always seemed too similar for a 2 watch rotation. Maybe a polar Exp II would be a better compliment.

I like the Exp 2.polar but it's probably too big for me at 42.

Looking forward to having sub & exp to compare first hand

I went no date sub and Z blue Milgauss. Couldn’t be happier as they are so different. I considered the explorer 1 but did feel a little overlap. In a world of unlimited resources, I would have both. In a two watch collection, I decided to diversify and don’t regret it at all. Best of luck.

I have my first Rolex a 14060M and an Explorer 1.

The explorer is my work watch and it gets about 75% of my wrist time. My Sub is my weekend watch but recently picked up a white dial Milgauss that I can’t seem to takeoff my wrist.

Man can’t live with black dial watches alone!

I'd rather wear a no date watch on the weekends, and a date during work days. Kinda makes sense right?

I have OP39 black and SubC date. Use the former when traveling and for the most formal occasions. Any other time, I got the Sub on my wrist.

I have both the sub date is a go to during the week because I use the date function a lot for work and the bezel for timing and reminders. It’s tough, looks great and a perfect everyday watch. On the weekends or less casual settings I opt for the explorer.
To me it’s the perfect 2 watch collection/rotation

I used to have the 214270 and now own the 39mm OP white dial. Very different watches. I never bonded with the 39mm Explorer (dimensions all wrong), but I love the OP.

I went with the same, got the 214270 few months ago as my first Rolex and placed an order for the 114060 recently. Fingers crossed to get it before year-end. I am thinking keeping the Exp as the work watch and wear Sub for the weekends.

I now have the 214270 & the 114060. Was not sure when to wear what lol

Thinking the explorer being a bit more dressy, was going to try Sub work days
As I dress very casual daily.

I have them both (Explorer 214270 Mark 1 and Submariner 114060) and I intend to keep them both. I got the Explorer a year before I pulled the trigger on the Sub. Now I try to share my wrist time equally among those two but I gotta say I'm kinda miss the other one when its not on my wrist. That being said I do enjoy choosing between these two every single day so all I can say is keep them both or you will regret selling it you'll have to buy it back!

I recently sold my Explorer. It was getting no wrist time after I bought my Sub 2 years ago.
