My current collection

This is the current state of my collection.

I would really like to add a 116610LV (like so many others would). I have been so fortunate to be able to buy my other pieces at retail, so I would feel fine paying the premium for the Hulk, but obviously would rather not. I am struggling to define how long I am ok waiting.

I welcome any and all opinions.

Well done. Perhaps a PM strap dress watch.

I am with you, this is what I would have in mind, I just wear a dress watch so infrequently I haven’t been able to pull the trigger.

I second this. I think you are lacking a dress watch, PM on a strap is a good move. Also can consider a full PM piece as a dress or a steel vs TT datejust on a jubilee. Perhaps if you really like sports models, a Pepsi on jubilee can be both a dress and casual option.

Agree with the hulk as you have the chrono and GMT covered but are lacking a diver. Hopefully supply opens up soon as I too am on the list for one with the AD!

Lower budget a JLC, higher budget a Patek. Dress watch.
Nice collection by the way.

Excellent collection! If I were you, I would add a simple dress watch to the mix.

I would wait for retail personally, I have actually enjoyed the past 2 years with Rolex availability (lack of). it has pushed me to dabble in other brands while I wait for 'the call'. It has actually been pretty fun buying low in brands such as hublot, Cartier, linde werdelin and panerai and trading at low loss or slight profit when I got bored of the watch. I haven't purchased a Rolex in 2 years just kept hold of the ones I have and I haven't thought twice about adding another with the way things have been, basically blocked out of my mind until stock increases.

It's a good collection as is. If you want to go shopping I think a dressier piece in the form of OP/DJ/DD as funds alow.
I don't like the idea of paying over MSRP either, in your position I would enjoy the Omega diver in the hulks place untill the green one arrives.
The photo is not so clear(or my eyes) I can't work out the two on the right, farthest right is a Tag but I'm stuck on number four. What are they?

The TAG is a Carrera 1887. This was the first nice watch that I ever bought. Got it on a cruise ship. At this point I didn't know anything about watches, literally nothing. I don't think I knew what an automatic movement was, but I loved it an it really started this whole thing for me. Now I find it so big and chunky that I never wear it, but I keep it around because it is what started it all.

The other is a speedmaster '57 60th anniversary. I bought this as a replacement for my moonwatch which was stolen. I love the steel bezel and how it is an almost exact replica of the original.

I agree with everyone who suggested the dress watch. This is what I have had in mind, but I would wear a dress watch so infrequently I have not been able to pull the trigger.

Here are some better pictures.

The far right is a TAG Carrera 1887. The first watch I bought on a whim while on a cruise ship. I did not know anything about watches, I just liked the way it looked. Now I never wear it because I find it so chunky, but I keep it around since it is what got me into watches.

The other is a Speedmaster '57, 60th anniversary. I got it to replace my moonwatch (my first informed purchase) which was stolen. I love the look of the steel bezel and find the fact that it is almost a replica of the first speedmaster to be pretty cool.

Like you, I hardly ever wear a dress watch- maybe twice a year - so don’t feel bad if you don’t buy one just for the sake of rounding out a collection. For my 40th birthday I bought myself a JLC 39 ultra thin moonphase in RG- gorgeous watch but I just never wore it. So I traded it away. One option would be to get a watch on strap that can do double duty as dress and casual. For me, a WG Lange One and RG FPJ octa automatique lune hit that sweet spot.

With regards to the LV- if you bought all or most of the watches in your collection from the same AD, then would get on his/her list after stopping by in person (or sending an email if you are close) and making a good case for why you really want an LV. I did this, and got mine in ~4 weeks. They are going for >50% premium (new) w trusted sellers now which is a bitter pill to swallow.

Or maybe a Lange Saxonia Thin?

I wouldn't buy a dress watch if you'll barely ever wear it. I'm the same and I don't own one.

Every collection needs at least one Sub.
