Calling for opinions: Rolex DateJust 68258 18K President.

I have owned this watch since 2009-2010, it was purchased from a second hand store.
I'm unsure of its originality so i'm seeking advice from persons with watch experience.
Your feedback is extremely welcome. I'd like to know if it's worth further exploration to determine if it is genuine.

DETAILS: It's missing the (cyclops) and also the Rolex symbol/badge on the clasp join, although there is black scuff marks to possibly say it was once in place. I notice the bezel is off center. It feels quite weighty and has a smooth continuous rotating second hand.

What did you pay? What was the store? How did they describe it?

Not sure if it's fake or not. I googled that reference number and found several examples with the bezel aligned differently.

My red flags are the lack of cyclops and the knurling on the case back being seemingly out of place.

Can you provide a better photo of the black scuff? Rolex uses a special formula for the black scuff. The photo would help authenticate the watch.

I have seen and heard of very intelligent, professional people who bought fakes and wore them for years, before posting on forums and learning (sadly) they were fakes.

I just see no reason to be impolite.
Not everyone can immediately distinguish the genuine from the replica.

I think whoever made this asked his R&D team for a list of the things Rolex is famous for:

1. Solid gold - check!
2. Diamond bezel - check!
3. President bracelet - check!
4. Hidden clasp - check!
5. Woman’s size - check!

Put them together and viola! This watch!

Thank you Gladiator. I'm a recently new member... really 0 experience in watches. I'm in the early stages of buying my first Rolex... meaning I'm here to learn. Initially I thought I hit the jackpot with this site and all the learning I could do. But the more I read, it seems like most of it is egotistical members insulting those who are trying to learn.... THIS IS NOT A FORUM FOR THE DISCUSSION OF FAKE WATCHES, BRACELETS ETC, and your opinion are about FAKE WATCHES and who makes them, sells them, buys them and wears them is NOT welcome.

This section of the forum is frequented by trolls and scammers. The established forum members who read and post here are used to seeing one-post wonders who open up by posting a watch that is so obviously fake it could be identified as such with a few minutes research on Google. Then comes a second post asking “how do you know it’s fake?” Following this we generally get tumbleweed from the OP. This OP might be genuine, but his/her post follows a pattern that invites doubt.

I’m not trying to condone being rude to anyone - my personal line is drawn at “sardonic humour” - merely trying to explain why some react in a less than welcoming way when seeing threads like this.
