Which WG Daytona 116509?
Hi
I am obsessing over the WG Daytona after handling one. The feel of the gold And the case shape are just sublime. My quandary is which dial to go for. The blue is so striking and sporty whereas the steel and black panda is just so classy. I’m leaning towards the panda as i believe it may be more versatile and under the radar but my one concern is that the dial bezel and bracelet all blend into one. On the Rolex website there does seem to be some colour contrast but in photos elsewhere that doesn’t always seem to be the case. Obviously I’d love to have a hands on with both but Rolex sport models aren’t that easy to track down.. Does anyone have any thoughts to share? As far as dress goes, I rarely wear a suit so that’s not a consideration. |

The steel dial with WG bracelet & bezel, does blend together...in a good way. The blue dial is a gorgeous blue.
If you want the watch to stand out as ...”obviously/probably a daytona” from a distance and to non=wis...the steel dial with contrasting sub-dials does that very well. The blue dial, without contrasting sub-dials, looks like most any chronograph out there... from a distance and to non-wis. So, if you don’t care about any of those factors...either is a great choice! Both are beautiful watches, and the WG feels great! I personally think the steel dial looks best with the contrasting bezel on the OF. The blue dial is a beauty, just no contrast, which I also personally prefer with a Daytona. All about personal choice and the “look” you’re after. No wrong answer here! The Daytona is a great reference! Good luck |

I tried on the WG version a couple of weeks ago. It didn’t pop on the wrist; too monotone. I would go with the blue dial version or the WG on OF strap.

Love it! Unfortunately, that watch is currently out of my budget, and on top of that, I’m trying to be a one watch guy. If those two reasons weren’t there, I would buy it in a heartbeat, as it would be a great partner for me Rhodium dial Datejust: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Have had the blue for a day and it is beautiful, although dial is very dark if not in direct sunlight. Panda is also good looking but think I'd rather take the 116519LN in that case. |

116519LN if steel dial (on OF), blue dial if with full bracelet.

I would only buy contrasting sub-dials on my Daytona. Panda or reverse panda.
The blue is very nice still, but I'd go with the panda. |

I’ve had many many (WG) Daytona dials installed. You can find lots of very clear images in topic linked below(whitegold on leather but that doesn’t make a big difference)
They are all are beautifull, i just mention the small disadvantages: Panda: a little busy Slate Arab: Lacks contrast, red chrono hands are nice Steel : Monotone, this dial really suits the 116519LN better (or 116519 with black leather ;) Blue: in anything but bright (daylight) tends to look more black then blue https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=709192 |

The steel dial is one of best looking watches in the lineup. I would take that over the blue without hesitation.

In the 509, I would probably go blue. I agree with Ken on the steel dial, but for me, that dial looks best on the 519 OF model.
Can't go wrong, though. I've had both and can say without hesitation they're both spectacular. If you choose one over the other, it's really just a matter of splitting hairs. |

Thanks everyone for all the input so far. I’m none the wiser though! They’re both great. I will send pics when I make my choice..

Can you give any advice on getting different dials for the 509? I have the Silver Arabic which I quite like but wouldn’t mind trying the blue. |
