Gotta let one go....

So, I have to let one go to fund another purchase. Love them both for different reasons, but cant decide which one to part with. Difference in cash is meaningless between the 2. Which one are you parting with????

V Serial Kermit
OR
BLNR

We need to know what the incoming purchase is to form a view?

For example, if the incoming was the 126710BLNR then the 116710BLNR has to go!

Love the OF watch. I would let one of them go but I don't know which.

This is a tough one. I'd probably lose the BLNR just because the 5-digits fit my wrist better, but I'm glad I don't have to be the one making the choice.

Herein lies the problem in watch collecting. You're going to let a watch go to bring in another watch, yet you don't know which one that would be.

Hmm...well, to be honest, it's not the time to bring in another watch, IMO. Not until you have a clear picture of what you want your collection to look like and what's staying with you until the bitter end.

Not trying to be judgmental here, this is what I've learned over twenty years of Rolex ownership. And it hasn't been easy...or cheap.

This is sage advice. Every Rolex I’ve sold has been to make room for something else. Honestly, I kind of regret selling them in hindsight, despite loving my current 2 Rolex collection.

In your case, I’d part with the LV if you have to. Reason being the sub-standard bracelet clasp.

However, I’d prefer to have the blnr and LV over that OF piece. In my opinion this move is a mistake, especially if you like the BLNR and LV which it sounds like you do. Just my $.02

I'd flip the Sub. Terrific watch but prefer the modern BLNR.
Great choice with that YM btw!

I’ve found there’s no such thing as the bitter end. It’s clear this purchase will enter the charts at no. 1. I’d let the Sub go.

I need more info to deliberate. What are planning to buy? I have reasons for keeping both and for loosing both, Im glad I'm not you right now.
Verdict: keep the kermit I feel it suits you better its smaller and more classy and it has sentiments attached, Kermit was Rolex 50th anniversary Sub and its discontinued.
Good luck

I’d keep the hulk no doubt. The GMT fad will end. Not the Kermit.

Yes, good advice. It's tough because right now I like the YM better than these 2 and I feel like part of enjoying these watches is getting to experience a nice variety. And unfortunately without unlimited funds, you have to let some go to do so. Tough choices for sure!

Having had all these watches, keep the GMT because:

1. BLNR not being made on Oyster any more
2. GMT function is useful differentiator from time and date only
3. Blue and black is more versatile than green

That gold YM really is lovely.

I'd look at functionality. If you dont need a GMT for travel, then sell it. Same for the Sub...do you ever dive with it? It's less about value and "collectability" for me and more about how you use the watches. They are tools after all!

I'm biased because the Kermit is a watch I someday want to own and, while I like that particular GMT, it just doesn't grab me in the same way. Objectively, I do think the commemorative aspect of and the discontinuation of the LV argue for keeping it, between the two. On the upside, it's a good dilemma to have! :)
