Rolex date just fake or real ?
Hi. I would like to purchase a Rolex Datejust 16233 for collection. However after studying the watch, notice there is no marking “T” along with the “Swiss Made” wording. See photo.
I googled and notice this model was normally marked as “T SWISS MADE T” Is that fake or genuine? There is no certificate of the watch as the seller claimed it has lost. Appreciate your advice. Thanks. |

Many of these Datejusts received service dials from Rolex. My 1988 16234 left the factory with a T Swiss T dial, but had it swapped at a later date during a service, for a Swiss Made like the example you posted.

Open the back. If movement is real than the watch is prob also. But there are franken watches out there to be aware of, real movement and case, aftermarket bezels and bands fyi.
Buy a generic rolex caseback opener on amazon. Best $20 you can spend if your a WIS |

I could be completely wrong but the date font seems a bit bold.

I suspect a reworked dial with tritium removed.

??? It's clearly a SWISS MADE superluminova dial. Nice watch. Bezel looks nice and sharp.

Or As David said we need serial number to date watch to help - it could be an original luminova dial .

Good questions. This is the point of knowing - those spaced out DJ dials with DATEJ U S T were only made in a certain period. For the OP, while the dial may end up being a genuine service dial, don’t forget that it may have been put on a DJ that it wasn’t meant to be installed - like a newer production case.
