Basel rumor

Spoke to a legit source yesterday who stated Rolex would not be unveiling the new TT blue sub with ceramic bezel at Basel. Suspending unveiling of TT sub due to economy and slow sales of white gold sub. Time will tell.

I agree. If they want to ignite their business....change their usual BS pattern and release it. Not like it would be hard to build and produce

No kidding Rolex...you're having a tough time moving WG $20K+ Subs in these economic times?!?! Here's a thought...release the SS version and you might actually see the slow sales start to go away!

I vote we authenticate the legitimate source to see the amount of professionalism he/she demonstrates in presenting a Baselfair rumour and seeing it come into fruition during these tough economic times.

Wow, and I'm betting Rolex S.A will introduce something at Baselfair 2009, Why go there empty handed, come on folks Rolex holds the cards close to there chest, you can believe what and who you want, we will see in a weeks time.

the OP statements as false and banish him from this forum forever. You (OP) must therefore present your source by release of their name for our own scrutiny.

Come on fellers, it's not as if the 16610 is selling badly. Introducing a new SS Sub will have no impact on sales at all for this year.

Well I actually work for an AD, in sales and in service. Our Sales Rep Jeff Cotton (south eastern regional Rep) said that they have no immediate plans to release a "new" sub in stainless or S/G.

Reason being? They want to sell and promote the new GMT master. If you want a new sub buy the Steel GMTIIc look at it closely it already has a triplock crown on it, the only thing they are going to change is the finish of the case/bracelet and the the bezel. They will more than likely use up the existing stock of cases (for the current model) they have already machined. I'm already seeing V serial numbers engraved on the reflector rings of current styled ones. That baby is waaay off on the horizon.

Besides it's not like they can keep up demand wise with the GMTIIc in steel, it's like what a six month plus backorder? I keep saying it Rolex is seriously cutting back on their sport watches production wise. They want them to be scarce and appreciated.

I could take my pick from an AD of a GMT IIc or one in TT. The more scarce they make them, the more money they cost, less people in the market place, less sales. Oh dear. It mat be a mistake they say!

As for paying over the odds they can forget it for. I'll collect something else

What are you talking about...........that has to be the silliest statement I have heard on this forum .........six month back order...are you kidding me???? Walk into any AD in Southern California and pluck one right out of the case with a sizable discount. Man, whatever you're drinking, you need to slow down

You mean one of those 'rare' 6-month back-ordered GMT's?

That's the one

It's sitting right next to the equally rare DSSD.

beat his "silly" statement with one of my own by saying,

"ROLEX will shift exports to the USA by fifteen percent and divert those inventories to the Far East and CHINA who are experiencing a 2 percent growth in GDP; also a price increase of 9 percent will be levied on the US market in two installments."

Hey, not bad right, hellyah, i can strike out some meaningless drivel with the best of em !
Thanks,
Randy

FWIW, my AD told me today (in a very authorative manner) that at Basel Rolex is going to introduce the upgraded Sub, with a ceramic bezel and an upgraded bracelet. Who knows?

I want to know if there is going to be a daytona date!

Just to refresh your memory, Rolex S.A. released the Solid gold Sub in both white and yellow gold at Baselworld 2008, but hey you knew that, your were just seeing if we were paying attention.

If history repeats itself then Rolex should release the TT Sub(116613), kinda like the way the GMT IIc was, first in solid gold, then TT then S/S.

Besides the Ad that I frequent has a S/S GMT IIc, a TT GMT IIc and a Milgauss 116400GV, all available for immediate purchase, kinda bypassing that dreadful waiting list.
The only noticeable difference between the GMT IIc and Sub in cerachrome will be the PCL(GMT), multi time zone capability(GMT), glidelock clasp(Sub)and the numbers on the bezel insert.
Oh and the depth rating is a bit higher or is lower , whatever.

Hard to find? At least this AD is transparent.

P.S. picture was taken on New Year's eve so the AD was closed (they removed some of the watches on display).

Well, we all have our own opinions regarding the accuracy of pre-show predictions and so called authentic sources.

For me, the thing I'm most waiting to see isn't a specific watch, but just how this year in general compares to years past and if the economy (watch demand) really appears to have altered their strategy.

I've wondered the same for years. Now we have rumors of what Rolex is not going to do when only they know what they are going to do.
