Yacht Master 2
Hey guys, so I got a call from my AD for a SS Yachtmaster 2. I'm assuming the Yachtmaster 2 is much more easily obtainable than a gmt or daytona? Ive been waiting for those 2 for a while now... Anyways, if you had a chance to buy the SS Yachtmaster 2 would you go for it or pass?

Was it on your list ? Of course they want your buying commitment for more than those two tough to get pieces, but getting the YMII just to please the AD, I wouldn’t

SS YM2 is the easiest SS Professional model to get. They sit for months on display cases even in today’s market. That said it’s a cool model with a very unique movement. It’s large and if it fits you then get it if it’s a model you want.
Our trusted sellers have had a lot of them sitting for awhile so a discount might be obtained. |

Get it only if you like it. Personally this watch intrigues me but not enough for me to purchase one.

If you have the chance to get it and you want it, then sounds like you should buy it.
Not my cup of tea however. |

There is always YM2 at my AD case. So definitely easy to get. The question is do you like it

I have WG ym11 and love the watch. These pieces do not get a lot of love so if you like it buy it , don't follow the sheep.

Not for me, but if I liked it then I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
My favorite Rolex sports model is the YM1. It too is a low demand piece, but when I had the chance to buy one at an AD a few months ago I went to the shop immediately and made the purchase.

The AD wants to sell you the YM2 before they offer either the GMT or Daytona, this is how business is done with most Rolex ADs these days.

Has the same sort of vibe as the Skydweller. Not everyone's cup of tea.
I could get used to it and it is different. If you like it, get it. Who cares what anyone else likes. |

If its not a watch you were interested in, let it go. Wait for the watch you want.

I think they're just employing sales strategy on you, stalling so you purchase what you don't want. I'd say you wait..

Classic AD move. Dont feel pressured into buying what you dont want. Personally Im a fan of the gmt and Daytona it will be worth the wait.

If you have been waiting for a GMT or Daytona, I would keep waiting and get what you really want, not just buy something because the AD has it and wants to sell it. Playing these ridiculous games that ADs are seemingly able to get away with and are in great positions to play is crazy to me, all because certain SS Rolex models are in such high demand. I'm not buying a model I don't really want just so hopefully my AD will offer me a model that I do want in the future. |

I have one, I love it. Had it for 5 years now.
I agree with most, to my own detriment, this watch is easily obtainable as it is not loved by the large majority. If you can get one on the second hand market at the right price, or, negotiate with the AD. This model will depreciate as soon as you leave the store with it. |

I sure hope you’re not buying something based on how hard it is to get. You should get the Yachtmaster 2 if you like it. It’s a cool watch that just isn’t the flavor of the week at the moment.

"Besides the new Rolex watches will show both distinguished and characteristic model accents; this will be required by the market commonly soon.
If you buy one, new or 2nd hand, go for the discontinued "Blue Hands" version, which was the 1st version and sold only a couple of years in very limited quantities." I agree with your analysis , except the blue hands version was the second version of the 1166689 , the first being white hands, then blue, then the mercedes hands . I bought a 116689 with the blue hands made between 2013 and 2017 and believe if they discontinue the 44mm it becomes instantly collectable. Regardless, the watch is something on the wrist and bought at a considerable discount to msrp, it is among the only bargains of the pm rolexes. |

It's very busy...very... I see a lot of these style watches at the Market for about $6.
But hey... if you know, you know... so you know? |

Is the YM1 not easier to acquire at an AD than the YMII?

Not really. From what I've seen in AD watch cases, the last man standing in SS sports models WAS the YM2 SS.
Now I don't even see those anymore. Now I only see the TT YM2's along with the all yellow gold version. |

I was just at my AD picking up a repair they had three YMIIs in the case and one in the window. They have been there for awhile. If it is the one you want go for it, but if you are on the fence it doesn't seem hard to get. I would pass.

It’s such a unique watch, and the complication is actual useful. A Daytona chrono (any dial) is nearly impossible to read and since most timing events are under 10 minutes the YM2 complication comes in handy most of the times!
If you are in doubt about the SS version, be sure to check it out live on the wrist, then the colours really come to live! |

If I wanted a YM2 yes.
Yes, the YM2 is much easier to source from an AD. |
