My first FP Journe!

My collection has changed more in the last 18 months than in the 10 years before it combined. I decided I really wanted to chase a few grail pieces and consolidate into pieces I have always wanted. The last leg of that was FP Journe. I got it today. I first saw the Havana on Hodinkee a couple of years ago, and I fell in love with it immediately. At that time I was not ever thinking I would add pieces at that level to my modest collection, but you know how this hobby goes. So, with this years decision to consolidate to a smaller more focused and cohesive collection, I really got serious about a Journe.

I kept looking for anything else in the Journe collection I would possibly like more. I never found anything. Sure, I'd love a Resonance if I could afford it, but for where I want to be, and my love of brown dials, nothing sang to me like the Havana. Had my choice of with or without moon phase, and platinum or RG. I went with the RG and Lune because at the end of the day this configuration just spoke to me the most. I will be getting a dark blue strap to put this on for more casual times. A bit of whimsy.

I love this thing. And I think it fits in well with my new smaller, but better, collection.

Thanks bud! I appreciate it. I was very worried how my entire collection would come together. I sold off some pieces I absolutely loved over the last year - 14060M, BLNR, 2 16710s (Coke and Pepsi), 116520 White, SD4K, and many others to consolidate this down.

I was really striving for a great mix of personal grails (DD PLAT, 15202, FPJ), dial colors (blue, green and brown), vintage vibes (16753 nipple dial), and sport vs sporty dress. Oh yeah, and I had to have a PAM. Just because I love them.

Wow congratulations! A great addition to your collection which is very in line with my tastes as well. It's crazy that for money similar to a CB on the grey market you can step into the Octa Automatique Lune.

OP, that is an excellent choice especially comparing your stunning collection. It complements them so well. How is the moon on the complication? I would love to see a closer shot of it. Congrats again. You seem to be over the “moon”.

Thanks. Like almost everyone else I love the CB, but I cannot justify the price. The only watch in my collection I paid up over MSRP for was the Jumbo. I have a great Rolex AD relationship and can get what I want usually, eventually, but I have zero AP relationship so I realized the only way to make the dream come true was going grey.

For FPJ, I got lucky in that I have a very long relationship with Govberg from collecting other brands years and years ago. That allowed me lots of choices on Havana dials, but would not have allowed me to jump their CB list. All's well for me though, as I slightly prefer the Havana to the CB, but it is close. Of course the CB dial is unbeatable, even with this luxurious brown, but the Rose Gold and moon phase just put this one over the top for me.

That said, if the CB was still at retail I'd probably try to buy it as well!

Thanks for the very kind words. As soon as the moon moves over in the next week I will take a picture and post on this thread.

Awesome to see! I also received my first Journe today. Certainly will not be my last. They make one hell of a watch. Congrats on the Havana dial. Looks great on you!

OP, amazing addition. I love the Havana series as well, the RG, havana dial and brown strap... just looking at it makes me want to light up a cigar.

Very nice choice. The RG case works very well with the Havana dial.

It's funny you mention that! I did precisely that while wearing it last evening. My other "hobby" is cigars, so this watch fits me perfectly!

Congrats! I know some people think the off center date window is jarring, but I have always thought it suits the watch perfectly.

Beautiful new watch. Next time you are trying to get rid of something send me a PM. Most of what you have/had I am trying to get ahold of.

Will do. I'll be honest though I think the collection is going to be pretty static for a bit. Maybe longer than a bit. I am really happy with it. I am still on the list for a DaytonaC, which they tell me should be this year, but outside of that I can't think of anything I want to add that I can afford.

And everything left is an all time favorite of mine. This is a pretty heavily curated collection (for my tastes) now.

Congrats! That's the next Journe I would like to get. I tried one on a while back and it's a beautiful piece. They had it on the navy blue strap which complements the moon phase very nicely. I highly recommend getting a blue strap if you haven't already.

I have one on order. They were out when I got the watch. I think it will look great.

Drool. The obvious standout in a great collection already. Moon phase and that movement? Killer choice.
