Incoming Panerai 968 Bronzo
Had a crazy weekend with 2 unexpected in-comings, well one of them, the WG Submariner 116619LB (Smurf), was just a matter of time, I'll post that shortly on the Rolex forum, but this one was just pure luck!
Was heading to Rolex in Jeddah (Saudi) on Friday night when I just happened to walk past the Panerai Boutique on route. I walked in and my good friend Saud, the AD manager, straight away just blurted out .. aahh Vince I've got something that I know you will definitely buy! So I was like... yeh really.. you say this every time I walk in. So, this watch is not on display and he goes in the back while I grab a seat. He comes out with a box still complete in packaging and pulls out a Panerai 968 "Bronzo". Now I have to say, this is a real statement piece and not for the shy and retiring. 47mm with a huge bronze chunk and crown clasp added to the 47mm dial and bezel. It's a beast. I'm trying it on thinking this is beautiful I cannot take my eyes of it, but.... I know hardly anything about this particular watch. So I'm WhatsApp'ing my watch buddies Mark and Tahir and saying quick let me know if this is a good deal as I really like it. Both are like that is a great hard to get watch and a great price and more importantly looks awesome, which I thought too. So the story goes that a rich Saudi (repeat customer) ordered it like just over 1 year ago, it only just came in and they've phoned him for 2 weeks but no reply, and management HQ in the Middle East are like sell it to a VIP client quickly or return it to Dubai as it's in demand. So i went for a coffee and researched the watch a little, I was already sold on the looks but just didn't want to buy a watch that might be worth half the value when I walked out the store. Some people might not think that's important but it is a consideration for me, not all the time, but I just like to know. Anyway turns out that the asking price (zero discount offered and that is rare for Panerai, but a good indicator I thought) was 62,200 Saudi Riyals, $16,570 USD and GBP 12,555 was indeed a cracking deal. Well after the coffee back to the AD and you guessed it by the title...in-coming "Bronzo" 968, totally different from my 932 blue Radiomir but I'm loving it.. just wanted to share some photos. (oh by the way I had a Pan 999 green dial on order, but after this weekend's double incoming I told them to put that on hold). I think I can just about pull it off, don't really care if you think i can't , apologies for the crumpled shirt it was the end of a hot long saudi day. Pulled the trigger.. amazing price! Unpacking at home.... Just for a sheer size comparison here it is next to my other go to weekend watch.. Yes unbelievably you can hide a 47mm Bronzo under your cuff Its a beauty!

Nice one. Congratulations and enjoy it.
Living is KSA is likely to help the patina develop quickly esp if you spend time by the coast (all that humidity and heat). Keep us posted on how the patina develops. Sent from my moto g(7) power using Tapatalk |

Glad I could help you make your decision via frantic WhatsApp messaging. Crackin watch and I bet the patina looks amazing in a year or so! Man that's a proper "man" watch! Looks great on you. And congrats on the Smurf as well! Hell of a weekend my good good friend.

Looks great! More wrist shots where you can see the whole watch and your wrist please! BTW, yes, you can pull it off nicely.

Congrats! You’ll see a change in a matter of days and, after a few months, it’ll seem like a different watch. I love it, and the experience.
