Tudor BBGMT Stopping

Looks like my Tudor BBGMT will be heading back to RSC for service. Over the past 4 days it has stopped running twice. I have manually winded it and it will run for a couple days and then stop again. I am very active with it on so I know I am moving enough to wind it. As much as I love this watch this is seriously putting me off since my warranty will be up in June. It already went back for the date issue and now this.

Has anyone else had this issue?

That is a bummer. Mine went for the date change fix last October. I must admit I am a little worried about the future with this watch but I really love it for so many reasons.

Never heard of this issue with BBGMTs before. Have you searched the forums for similar issue?
How old is the watch? Mine is 2018, had the date issue fixed and never lost a beat ever since even though lately I got another watch that I rotate with. I don't sleep with my watches but I do wind it from time to time when it sits for more than 48h.
How many crown rotation you're doing when winding the watch?

When Rolex boutique sent mine to Switzerland back in November 2018 "The boutique is not managed by Rolex but controlled by it in many ways" they told me that Tudor will take care of any future date issues if they recur even after the warranty expires.
This is not a separate issue that can presents itself randomly, this is a fabrication defect that until they solve it they will not stop supporting it.

See if they will might swap it out for a brand new one perhaps? I think it's a reasonable request if you needed to send it in for two separate issues. As for the watch itself I've never had a lick of problems with mine. Can be hit or miss sometimes.

It was purchased in June of 2018 and went back mid July for the date issue. I have never had any timing issues and still don't, when it is running. I turn the crown about 20 times to get it going and it runs for a couple days. This is my daily so I know I wear it enough to keep it wound. I understand this stuff can happen to any brand so it's no dig against Tudor but it is a little off putting. Not much I can do but send it off and hope for the best. I will contact my AD today and see what they recommend as far as replacement options.

I had this same issue in March, 2019. My watch is a June, 2018 model, so one of the first made. I talked to the AD and they assumed it wasn’t wound enough, but kept it for a few days and it did the same. It was then sent to Dallas RSC, who had it for about 4 months before returning it. I assumed it was related to date wheel issue, but never got confirmation of that. I guess someone from RSC Dallas wore it for about a week to diagnose it as they didn’t believe it and saw it did the same thing for them. I was told there was a full movement swap.

Mine has now been running flawlessly since June/July of last year when it was returned.

I see you're in TX. Are you in/near Dallas by any chance? If so, I would bring it in yourself. It was difficult for me to get any information as my AD sent it in, not me. RSC wanted me to check with the AD for updates, then talk to them, etc. I was persistent, but it would have been easier to get info and results if I was the customer and not the AD.

My watch was also one of the first ones so I am going to assume it's affected by most of the problems they have now supposedly resolved. This was my first attempt at a Tudor and while I do understand it's a new movement and may have problems it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If it is gone for 4 months it may be moved on upon it's return. To me that's a bit unacceptable for me to have a watch for less than two years that would have been gone that long.

I am not in Dallas but I do have a great AD that keeps me informed every step of the way. Last time it went it for the date issue it was only off the wrist for 3 weeks.

I completely understand and agree. I bought the watch used and only had the watch for FOUR DAYS(!) before I had to send it in. It was then gone for 4 months. My AD was very good and offered me a refund right away, and then again when the watch was gone for a month, but I declined both times. By the end, I was furious with the situation and planned to flip it right away, but then I started wearing it, and realized why I wanted it in the first place.

It was my second Tudor, however, and my Pelagos may be the most accurate watch in existence, so I had some faith in the company fixing it.

No matter what, if you’ve lost confidence in the watch you’re probably better off moving it when it’s returned. Tudor is going to make this thing for years, so the price will continue to drop on the secondary market. It’ll be very easy to get it back if you miss it down the road.

I would also ask if they’ll extend your warranty from the date of the movement swap. I mean, it’ll basically be a new watch, and new watches now have a 5-year warranty.

This is all good advice and I appreciate it. The things holding me back from flipping it is it was bought for a milestone bday, keeps great time when running, and was the first year they released it.

I don't really care about value in the long run as I do wear it and don't baby it. I will probably just hunt down another Rolex to rotate in when this piece is off for service every year or so .
