Where do you set your glidelock?
Just got my new SubC with a date today! The AD put the glidelock onto the smallest setting and then removed links as needed (such that I could expand the size of the band as much as possible).
I am thinking of going back tomorrow to have them put the glidelock in the middle and then remove another band (so I can adjust the watch smaller/larger based on my wrist size, which does seem to change a slight bit from week to week). Is this normal? Or is the glidelock supposed to be at the smallest setting by default? |

I'm not really sure where mine was set initially; however I can say that most every single day I move my glidelock around multiple times a day. Based on temperature, activity level, and dress I need to adjust the watchband a lot. I love it a lot more than just the easy-link system found on most other bands.

I put in on the smallest setting I will use. That gives plenty of space to loosen it up. It does mean the link inside the Glidelock will get a bit scratched up. That doesn’t bother me.
During the spring, summer, and autumn I make multiple adjustments a day. For the long winter I leave it on the original, lighter bracelet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve found it to be more difficult than expected to get the Glidelock set to the middle for “normal” use. When I initially had my 114060 fit at the AD a year ago, there were four “notches” showing in the Glidelock. I’ve since become more comfortable with five notches showing (6 showing is maximum travel).
When I had a link put back into the 12 o’clock side to push the Glidelock towards the middle, it just didn’t sit right on my wrist. Had to go back to the initial links setting and be happy with only having one notch to open it up. I rarely if ever tighten it to four notches showing. FWIW my wrist is a bony, flat 7.25”. |

When I picked up my Submariner my AD removed 2 links and suggested I position the Glidelock halfway on the track. After several weeks, though, I switched out the half-link for a full-link and moved the Glidelock 3 or 4 locks closer to the inside of the clasp. I still have room to tighten it if I need to or extend all the way.

My SubC centered well on my 7" wrist with 10 links in (usually 6&5 on others) 5 on each side, with the half on the 12 and the glidelock in the middle. I wear mine slightly loose. I never had to move it more than two positions either way.
Ya, id go back to the AD. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

It should be put in the middle, then adjust links. Just like a belt.

OP, RSC set up my Submariner the same as you’re describing. I added one link to get the glidelock to set in the center so that I can expand or contract as needed.

You’re thinking right your AD is wrong. When I got my SD43 I asked the boutique’s watchmaker to set it in the middle then resize the watch by taking links off. Our wrist la tend to grow bigger as well as shrink so the glide lock is there to get that change in diameter covered both ways.

In my case are 1 or 2 notches showing (and the fit is snug), because I like to keep as much links as possible, the oyster bracelet looks better that way. Enviado desde mi SM-G975F mediante Tapatalk |

Setup the watch with the middle setting wether its glidelock or micro adjustment like the Daytona.
That way, when the wrists swells, you can half to 3/4 of a link adjustment or in the sub's case, you can go tighter on very cold days. The Daytona is a harder fitment, especially PM's. Too loose and its constantly failing down your wrist. I find the easy link gets a lot more use there. Just right can be tight by the afternoon. |

Mines in the middle. You’re never going to need the full range only one or two notches just wear it how it’s comfortable

Remove links and or the half link to size the watch so the Glidelock is centred and can go either up or down if required.

I adjusted my LV to be about one third in from its tightest setting. I might possibly want to reduce the size of the bracelet in a small number of situations but my main requirement is to make it bigger when my wrist swells. This happens a in summer and when I travel, particularly to hotter climates. In most situations the Easylink system works for me, but the Glidelock is more adjustable and that's never a bad thing.
My Blusey is set a bit smaller in its smallest position. This allows both me and my wife to adjust the bracelet for a good fit without using tools. Useful. |

Usually 3 notches showing for me.
5 and a half links on the 12.00 side, 5 links on the other side. |

I have 6 links at 12 o'clock and 4 at 6 o'clock. 7" wrist and glidelock is in the middle in this setting when my wrist is "normal". Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

i’m weird. currently wearing my SD43 and i almost always have the glidelock set to the “fully closed” position. i can expand as needed but i can’t contract it.
perhaps this was an oversight i should adjust. but it’s worked fairly well as long as i’ve owned it.

correct me if i am more of an idiot than i normally am, but that full-sized link with the coronet is the diver extension, correct?
with my hysterically tiny wrists (6 5/8”) i had to remove that piece. looks really cool tho from this angle!!

I keep mine all the way in and allow it to move out for swelling and wait for it....diving...yes I use my watch for diving and sometimes in cooler water I have worn a wet suit and worn my watch over the sleeve.

Usually in my office, but occasionally the bathroom or my closet, haha
I put mine around center and then had the AD remove links. That way I have some leeway in both directions. |
