Vintage DateJust

Hello everybody!

I recently purchased this DateJust for my fiancé and I am looking for some history/ information.

I believe that it is late 60’s but I am not sure.

Maybe a 1601 reference? I believe a pie dial. I don’t have tools to look at serial number on case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I don’t.

I can take the bracelet off and find the serial but I don’t have the appropriate tools.

I will take it to a jeweler if I have to.

Was hoping someone in here would know about it

Ring looks great with the watch I think compliments it very nicely allowing the ring to be the centre piece.

It could well be a 1601 I don’t think anyone is going to be able to tell you without you taking the bracelet off there are so many variants of datejust. However ... where did you buy it from it should be on your receipt, paperwork

For sure.

Yes I agree with you!

It definitely compliments nicely. This is one of the only watches I saw her get this excited about so I had to make it happen.

She loves it

You can use a toothpick or a paperclip to remove the bracelet.

Imho it is definitely a 1601, with what appears to be service hands and silver starburst service dial with white gold and onyx markers. Is it t-swiss-t marked or swiss made?

Nice watch, I have its twin.

You also have an older folded link 6251H bracelet. Up to you, but your wife would likely prefer the updated 62510h bracelet with machined links. It is better made and feels more substantial on wrist.

Its a 1601 on Jubilee bracelet. Guessing early 70's. A view of the clasp and we could get a bit closer on year. I have an exact watch with a Tiffany Dial I placed on a Robbin Egg blue leather strap and gave to my young wife in a vintage Tiffany box for Christmas one year. She rarely wore it so after sitting in my watch case for years, I recently sourced a mint Jubilee bracelet in MY SIZE and wear it weekly. Love that nice thin classic DJ. Enjoy it.

162xx introduced the sapphire crystal, and this one looks to be a plexi crystal.

Quick-set movements and flat dials happened in the 70's

Does anybody know what this is worth?

Bought from a friend.

No plans to sell. I am going to source a matching one for our wedding watches.

Don’t you have a toothy pick or paper clippy? That’s all you need to get the bracelet off and it’ll be more clear what you have from the Ref #.

Your value is in the $3000-4000 neighborhood if the bracelet is genuine and all inside is proper Rolex. Would like to see a sharp well-lit closeup of that dial showing the T SWISS T you mentioned. It doesn’t appear to show up in the photo’s you posted.

Vintage DateJust

Good pics.
A Sigma dial - σ T SWISS T σ - nice and should date it in early to mid ‘70’s once you get a peek at the s/n. Although some were still found in late ‘70’s.

More on Sigma’s:

What do you mean by service handset?

Also, how can you tell it has been relumed?
