Rolex Jubilee inelegance vs Tudor Jubilee
Hey all,
I was just wondering what folks think about this topic. Why does Rolex use an Oyster style clasp on the redesigned Jubilee? Older Jubilee bracelets had much more elegant (in my opinion) integrated clasp. Even the new Tudor Jubilee uses a more elegant looking (again, to my eye) solution. Below are photos of each. Would love to hear some opinions on this. Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk |

I also wonder
The BB58 has such a sleek clasp compared to the 114060. I do like the Sub bracelet though.

Rolex Jubilee inelegance vs Tudor Jubilee
The Rolex jubilee in your picture is on a GMTIIC. It has space for both micro adjustment and ez link within the clasp which is quite befitting a sports watch. Very functional and makes a big difference with regard to fit.
Now that Tudor jubilee clasp looks great visually. That’s where it ends. The Tudor jubilee clasp along with the Rolex DJ that utilized the hidden clasp had very minimal adjustment options. If you wear your watch loose like a bracelet, this may be a non issue. In fact, even modern Tudor dive watches that utilize the oyster design suffer from minimal adjustment options. (Exception for the Pelagos) |

I know what you mean. Rolex bracelets and clasps are top notch and sturdy as well but this seems more clean and user friendly. A deployment buckle with a 2mm push in pull out slide adjustment on each end of the clasp, You can go 2 or 4 mm total adjustment, plus half link as well for a perfect fit.

Having the oyster lock on the sports models with jubilee bracelets makes sense.
Not offering the super jubilee bracelet on Datejust models doesn't. The current offering on the Datejust is a faux oyster lock which is a huge turn off to me. |

While I certainly don't mind the new Jubilee with its excellent folding mechanism, micro-adjust, etc. I do like the look of a more integrated clasp. This was one of the reasons I recently put a Super Jubilee on my BLNR and also what I love about my Day-Date. I know that many find the lack of adjustment on these bracelets to be a significant downside, however, I've personally never had any issues with wearing them snugly on my wrist.

The original Jubilee bracelets had Oyster-style clasps.
The last thing I'd call any Rolex Jubilee is inelegant. https://www.google.com/search?q=jubi...09969713962527

Oyster clasp on jubilee bracelet is a fail IMO. The integrated clasps were the best and I don’t understand why Rolex went to the new, incongruent set up.

The Vacheron clasp is among the most elegant I've seen. The raised crown on the Rolex Super Jubilee is nice but not ideal imho. I'd prefer something flush. I believe Patek has something similar to the Vacheron clasp.
To me this is all a very minor detail. The basic clasp on my GMT Oyster bracelet is fine for me. It's just not something to which I devote a lot of thought. As long as it's comfortable and not too intrusive, I'm good to go.

Not that I think what you said was wrong, but when it comes to the BLRO and BLNR, I think the flip-lock with easy link clasp belongs as Rolex has designed it. It's a sport watch clasp, and those pieces are sports pieces.
The regular Jubilee is very elegant, for sure. I feel like it's better suited for a date just or more dressy type timepiece. Just my 2 cent.s |

Hidden clasp looks better, but to some of us, being able to adjust it is nice (mainly those who like it tight around their wrist) and it is not possible with hidden clasp the Jubilee used to have, so I'm happy they added an Oysterclasp for DJ and Oysterlock for the GMT.

For me, the jubilee with hidden clasp is too dressy for the pepsi/batgirl (which are supposed to be "sports"-style). The clasp matches the "style" of the GMT.
The hidden clasps look good on date-justs and (for the president bracelet) daydates, because those are more "dressy" looking. |

Rolex has it right. Hidden clasp on dress models (Day Date) and flip lock on sports models. BLRO with hidden clasp would be out of place. Although Datejust might be better with hidden clasp.

One of my DateJust's has the super jubilee. It's a fantastic bracelet and looks great on the DJ. Rolex should've kept that style clasp for the dressy DJ IMHO.

On a watch like the GMT I prefer the jubilee with the easy link clasp. The hidden clasp is better for a more formal watch imo.
