There are two protective film companies
Rx8 and protectmyrolex.

Which is better? Does any know? Rx8 is like $90 vs pmr is $33

I’ve come to the point in my time here that I can pretty much predict how the majority of members here will respond to any given post. While I find that interesting I’m not sure I like that.

Similar post yesterday or the day before. I considered making the couch my "grandma's," but went with the same Nan.

In truth, however, Grams didn't have plastic on her couch, just Nan did.

Put the watch back in the box it came in and wrap that in plastic.

You are good to go!

I understand why new people to the game would want to protect their watches - after all, these are not inexpensive things.

I also understand the veterans around here that scoff at the idea of protecting these so-called tool watches (I've done some scoffing myself, plenty).

Personally, I would NEVER put protection or whatever you want to call it on any of my watches. A scratch here and there isn't going to take away from the beauty of these things. Just be careful how you wear your watch - don't go diving into concrete wrist-first and you'll be fine!

I would like to think he is trolling, but deep down I know he isn't.

Gone are the days of someone wearing a Rolex and doing adventurous things.

This new generation of Rolex buyers is something else.

Protecting it from scratches is something you can do with a little wrist awareness.

The bigger drawback to these protective films to my way of thinking are is that you don’t get to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful case finish that Rolex works so hard to achieve

Agreed, in addition to leaving sticky film, that will attract more dirt around the edges and lead to more scratches and discoloration

Nothing in life is static. Buy and enjoy that crispy newness, smack it on a door frame and feel awful, forget to take it off before falling asleep and wake up amazed at how comfortable it is, etc., etc. Time passes, memories made. You are different and so is the watch, but since you are a person and of real value, your changes are meaningful. The dings and scratches on the watch are just surface changes, and like all "things" only metaphor for what matters.

Please understand your Rolex will outlive you-likely by a wide margin even if it takes some scuffs it’s scraps. Allow that to sink in. We will be no longer and our Rolex will tic on. What I mean is who really needs the protection. My advice, ditch the protection and take care of yourself, eat well, sleep, exercise, Your Rolex will take care of itself.

Since the Rx8 is more expensive, it should be superior. It may be worthwhile to contact them and inquire about potential technological advances in their product recently. This way you ensure the use of the most advanced product available.

I believe (although happy to be shown incorrect) that it is, or was indeed duck not duct originally.

P.s. I’m in the don’t bother protecting camp. If it’s too precious to wear then pop it in a drawer to sell later.

Duck is correct. It was originally made from duck cloth.

The truth of the matter is that if anyone truly understands what Rolex watches are, their history and accomplishments; they wouldn’t embarrass themselves by asking ridiculous questions.

Too harsh. Nothing to be embarrassed about. A fine, logical question from someone who loves their new Rolex and thinking how they might keep it nice.

I certainly wondered the same when I was new.
