Are Tag trying to get i nto the Rolex league
Just looked at the new Tag Heuer Monaco, what are Tag thinking they have put the price up by nearly £1000 for a new movement. Do they think they can now start charging Rolex prices when they are no where near them for quality. I think they should stick to trying to beat Omega as they have no chance of catching or beating Rolex. What are your thoughts guys and gals

Well, without comparing Tag to Rolex, I will say that I'd never pay more for a Tag than a comparable Omega. Not even close.

I agree with you. Omega's target is Rolex. Tag's target should be Omega. Tag should be concerned about great watch companies like Oris. |

TAG will never be in the same league as Rolex - although you can't blame them for aspiring. Their target should be Omega.

Exactly - I think there are several 'leagues' between Tag and Rolex.

Tag Heuer may never be in the same league as Rolex. But I do like some of the improvements they are making on their new Aquaracer Automatics and other watches. The new bracelets and clasps are very nice and some of their watches have clear casebacks

I love heuers, not so mad on Tags, even though I have one - in fact it was the first decent watch I ever got! Not in the same class, though I must say a monaco is a very cool watch - especially vintage.

I've got an old Heuer and a newer Tag. I love them. Of course for the money, I think they were well worth it. My TH Formula 1 cost me about 250 on eBay and my Heuer I got as a Christmas present when I was 16. Both watches are fantastic, and the F1 has been on my wrist since the Rolex is at the Spa. The F1 is Red & Black, and I wear it for the UGA football home games.

TAG Heuer are part of the LMVH group that also sports Zenith and Hublot. Given the right incentive, even TAG could come up with an in-house movement and become a manufacture. If this is enough to become part of the same league a Rolex I don't know. Although I honestly think Rolex do not produce the best, or even very special movements, they are in a league of their own.

As far as pricing, they are inching up all the time. Quality however is suspect and not even close IMO.

Not sure what TAG is doing, but I commend any company for improving their product
