view on SD43 MK1 value

hi everyone. want to seek your view on SD43 mark 1 dial?
is it a good keep for future value?
Though I know that watch is supposed to be for daily wear

Unless the SD43 gets discontinued, or goes thru another major design change, I don't see too much of a large future. Perhaps in 20-30 years.

In 10 years time they will be worth $90000000 until they release Mk3 or Mk4 on any other insignificant font change.But hopefully many bought there watches irrespective of minuscule font changes to want to own and wear it and after wearing for many years hopefully in good health.If then you need to sell it and if it gives you return on original price paid .Think of that as a bonus of owning and wearing that watch over those years. That's what owning and buying a Rolex watch should be about, it's not all about £££$$$ will this go up or down if I buy this or that or any investment.And in Rolex retail eyes there is no such thing as Mk1 Mk2 dials as this stuff only exists in internet land.

At this pace (unlikely scenario) it would double its original value by 2025, triple by 2030, quadruple by 2033, quintuple by 2035 and grow tenfold by 2043 (now you're talking). Not going to happen though, realistically. Past performance is no indicator of future results.

I see it reaching a plateau at 20k and staying there for a long time.
But honestly I don't have a clue so you might just as well wear it and enjoy it if you like this reference.

It looks stunning IMHO and that's all I know for sure.

I think that the MK1 and MK2 hype is just that. Slight changes in dial fonts or other minor changes will not have the same impact going forward as it did decades ago before it was discovered. I always ask, is it about the watches or about the values? I get it, both, for most of us but it seems way too many folks put way too much time into looking at insignificant trends from long ago. For those of use that were into this before the craziness started, and will be here when it is done. This is just a bump on a time line for the hobby. Buy what you want and what you will wear.

I’m not a fan of speculation threads, but the future of the MK1 SD (based on similar collecting trends) would suggest that it will be “THE ONE TO GET’’ if you were hunting for a Sea-dweller in the next few years.

Those in the know usually compare it to the Kermit flat 4. Also it is already starting to be noted in sale ads, and is commanding a slight premium over the MK2.

Things right now are still pretty speculative, but like I said, based on collector trends it’s probably the best bet of the current Rolex models, other than let’s say a hulk should be discontinued.
