Which one would you buy?
I’m planning to add 16610 Sub date to my collection and have narrowed down to 2 options. Which one do you think is a better buy?
1. V serial NOS full set (+1.5k usd vs option 2) 2. Random serial Mint full set I like the first option because it’s completely brand new with stickers on it. But as far as I know, the random serial is super rare for 16610 reference. So it’s very hard for me to decide |

I would just get the most reasonably priced watch.
I don’t see how having a random serial designates a watch as rare. The 16610 is a very common watch. But if it’s a criteria that you like, go for it |

Yeah, I don't get that random thing at all.
I like the idea of NOS as well, but how old is it? Probably needs a service, just from age, and that's what, another $600? What's the condition of the other one, service history, bracelet stretch, etc.? One man's "mint" is another man's "wear typical for age".

I'll take option 1. That's very much.

Are you going to wear the watch?
If so why pay $1500 for some stickers?

Are you going to wear it? If so, save yourself the coin

Agree with others. If a safe queen, go NOS. If on wrist, save the $1,500.

It makes no sense at all to buy NOS if you intend to wear it. I wouldn’t stress too much over ‘which 16610’ it basically boils down to two things.
Do you like lug holes or no lug holes. Do you want 2 lines or 4 (correct answer is 2) |

I don't about paying that much more for nos if your going to wear it anyway, once you peel and wear there goes your nos. I had the same situation with a black non gv Milgauss awhile ago and chose the newer for less. The V serial no. is most likely a 2008, a long time to sit and may need a service for oil? A random no. is probably a 2011, actually check the warranty card date too, I had one made in 2013 (that milgauss) that wasn't sold til 2015. I'd go for the mint random full set and save 1500...Not that it matters to me value wise but for a later modern 5 digit Sub you'd be better off because it's one of the last of the series.

The 16610 was produced from 1997 to 2010. Not exactly a rare piece. Almost any piece if it hasn't already been serviced, even an unworn piece, may need movement service soon. I would put the money into an excellent condition piece, complete set, and service the watch. Then wear it for the next ten years.
