What do you think of the condition of this 16570 polar Explorer ii?
I’m looking for a polar 16570 and have come across this. It’s just been serviced at Rolex where it received a new bracelet, crystal and bezel.
It seems reasonably priced, please can you tell me what you think of it’s condition, would you buy it? |

It has been polished quite a bit (google a NOS to see how much more square the crown-guards are; although it retains some of the chamfers). Given you probably look for a daily wearer at a fair price, the fact that it's overhauled, with new bracelet and bezel, makes it a very good choice IMO.

Looks good to me. I'd buy it if I wanted a Polar to wear at the right price.

As said above, the RSC overhaul is a good thing and a nice new bezel. Been polished a bit but lug holes still look good to me. If you like it, go for it.

As someone who is a little less experience with the finer details, it looks pretty great to me. I don’t necessarily get caught up in the polishing or chamfers. I think if you love it in the price meets your expectations, considering that it was just overhauled, I think it’s a pretty good choice.

I'm wearing a D serial Explorer II right now that has never been refinished.. My crown guards look almost exactly like these.

Yeah. The polishing was OKish for a used watch that had been cleaned up, the bevels were a bit exaggerated, but things went downhill fast when I saw those crown guards. I think you've done the right thing.

Have to agree.
You can overhaul a movement, swap in new parts (bezels/crystals/bracelets/crowns/etc.), but you can never replace original case material once it's gone. That said, it really depends on the price. If the seller is asking a substantial amount less than market value, I might be persuaded. YMMV... And as another comparison/data point, here's mine, which has been polished once: |
