16800 crown replacement
Hello
Greetings from a 1981-16800 belgian owner, purchased a few weeks ago. I need your help: After having recently visited my Rolex AD, they noticed a little damage on the crown (original piece, jeopardizing its water proof ability) and propose me a crown replacement with a new piece out of their stock. What do you think of it? Same thing with the glasp of my 93150 bracelet, they suggest replacement. I feel sort of unhappy with the idea of touching the original aspect of my 16800 but from another point of view, i want my watch to be safe and functional! Any advise is welcome! Thank you FJ. |

Hard to say from just these descriptions..
The crown can get pretty beat up without compromising water resistance, and there are a lot of other parts and seals there. Has a pressure test been done to know if the seals are compromised? Same with the clasp.. they can undergo a lot before they need to be replaced.
