Conversation with AD today

Stuck at home, markets calming down a bit so decided to reach out my local AD's which are closed so called one in a neighboring state. Inquired about a DJ41 or a BLNR.

They actually have a ss DJ41 they would sell me. SA told me that Rolex will only allow the BLNR to be sold to a previous customer and that purchasing the DJ would allow me to be put on "the" list.

I'm still fairly new here and from what I've read that's probably bs. That might be the stores policy but is that really a Rolex policy?

Sounds like a load of crap to me. I would find another AD or go grey market simply on principle.

That’s the stores policy to make you spend more $$$. That is not Rolex policy

Ha! That's what I figured. He was really trying to push me to drive over as he wasn't sure how long the factory would be closed and felt supply was going to tighten in.

Another question that might be stupid but here goes....would I be out of line to ask for a discount on a DJ? I've been told those are now allocated pieces. Or are we still too early into this new world we are living in to expect discounts.

Ridiculous. That AD should be ashamed.

Glad I lurk a lot here as folks are being sold beach homes in Arizona! Whats crazy is I wonder if these sellers ever think folks dont do research before they dump $8,000 plus on a watch or they just dont care (care they're losing a potential customer)!

It's the Ad's trying to bump up their sales. It's a load of flannel and not the policy of Rolex.

Any AD who begins a sentence with "Rolex policy dictates that we must......" is full of shit.

Bullsh!t. Why not wait a few months? You may be pleasantly surprised. Hard economic times are on the horizon and I expect prices to drop on the very over priced models sold by grays.

HA, Well this is what I figured...

My dad had a long, long standing relationship with the AD here, bought probably a dozen Rolex over the years including 3-4 gold Presidents...but that was years ago, spent well into the 100's with him.

Id prefer to buy from him but I don't have a relationship with him at all(he's known me since I was a kid though) and my brother buys from him. But he's closed and there is no way to get through to him. Not sure if he would even give me the time of day on a BLNR.

If I was the store owner I'd pissed af for letting go of a sales like that, especially during these times.

BLNR...If both were offered side by side at msrp, BLNR, I just can't stand the thought of paying $3-5k on the gray market...but also don't want to wait 6-18 months.

First world problems right?

I suspect that the store your family has been shopping at will be happy to quickly secure a BLNR for you once they open back up.

Lol how do these ADs come up with these statements. Im sure the SA are asked to say this by the owners. In a way, the SA is just doing their job.

Just another AD story. Rolex does not tell them who how when or why to sell to anyone and also never told ADs to desticker or not sell to greys. ADs make up their own house rules period..

Yea, and I like the DJ they had, don't get me wrong, If I thought I couldn't get the BLNR for an extended period of time and had to spend large amounts $ with the AD to get the BLNR I'd probably buy it.

I didn't even mention this but I was in the AD's local store back in Dec. I was looking around and said hey of you ever get xy or z in let me know. So she called me a few weeks ago and said hey I got a SS DJ41 in can you come today. I was in Florida at the time and said I wouldn't be back for a week but could you text me a picture and I'd possibly go ahead and pay over the phone and collect when I got back into town....shes texts me a two tone with diamonds. My guess was that as soon as she figured I couldn't come that very day she called someone else.....the more I think about it they are shady....

The guy today told me he couldn't text me a picture of the actual watch that was against store policy and since I wasn't a customer they knew he could only text me a pic from the Rolex website (which I can freaking look that up).

I would send an email to the store that is closed that your family has dealt with in the past. Many of the stores that are closed are still monitoring their websites and emails. Good luck!

Also might want to call back to the store that is still open and ask to speak with the owner. Explain that you are reading online on the Rolex forums of many first time buyers that are getting the BLNR due to "listed" people turning down because of the Corona situation. Let him know you have cash and are ready to buy.

I agree with this. I know it seems like the markets are calming, but the bear is not done with us yet.

Nobody knows anything for sure, but I think it may be a bit easier to get pieces later this year...
