Sub date or CHNR

Passed today by my local AD to say hello and keep their memory fresh about me. I am on their list for long time on the Batgirl.

The SA offered me on the spot either sub date or CHNR. The CHNR looks amazing but the black sub date is so iconic.

Which one should buy? Both are on my list but was not on a rush as I already own the hulk and pepsi so both pieces were low on my priority list.

I am no flipper so bear that in mind. And I cannot pass any of the 2 pieces to other customers as they offer them to me because of my history.

What would you do?

go grab the CHNR as you don't have any TT in your collection yet... I must say it is a very gorgeous piece of metal.

CHNR RootBeer of course. If you are planning on buying a TT then the Chnr is the one to get. Don't miss it. For your collection I think a Sub no date, not a Sub date is the one to buy latter.

Fully agree it is a very gorgeous piece but it is relatively new and could be purchased later. Sub might be refreshed this year and I don't want to regret passing on it later. Plus the CHNR might impact my Batgirl request as both are GMT models. Lastly despite loving it, the TT is not very practical and can only be used in special occasions but the sub is very versatile. I am just torn between both.

CHNR is great. Sub is iconic but so common.

I have both and i would pick the Sub date.
If i could only ever have one watch, that would be the one.
It’s just perfect

You’re going to end up with two GMT’s or two Sub’s. I’d go CHNR for something a bit unique YMMV

Your call, but I would pass on both. But it depends on what you value in your collection. You have a diver and a gmt. My next move would be (if it has to be a Rolex) a DJ, possible Explorer II (better yet 5 digit exp II). More likely I would expand out of the Rolex brand into other watches. Iwc portuguese, grand seiko, navi reissue, speedy pro, get a chrono in the mix, but then again I value diversity in a collection. Just because you can make a move, does not mean you should.

+1 So boring to have such similar watches. Think outside the box.

Sub is so common, and you already have a Hulk. If the Sub gets a refresh, and new movement the old one will be less desired too. Ask for a Sub no date, or a DJ41 jubilee fluted blue or Wimbledon dial if you don't want the CHNR. Looks like Doha is the place to visit for hot watches now. Planning a visit soon. Oh, and by the way there's a big chance if you get the CHNR you will forget about the Batgirl, especially that you already have an SS GMT Pepsi.

Tough call. Both are on my list, as well. You have a lot of color already with the Hulk and Pepsi, so my inclination would be the sub date. However, the CHNR is a stunning watch that will get noticed more. Guess it depends on what you're looking for right now? Either way, you can't go wrong, and like you said, both are on your list, so it wouldn't be an impulse buy. Be sure to post pics of whichever you get!

Sounds like you're not too eager to get either one. I'd stay put.
If I was to choose between the two, I'd go with the CHNR. Since you already own the LVC, I don't think the black Sub Date would get much wrist time.

It seems like you don't really love either one of them, so don't buy.

I have both CHNR and Sub (no date, I like more than Sub Date).

IMHO, TT CHNR is one of the most beautiful timepiece for that price.

Thank you for the above suggestions. In fact I own watches from other brands not only rolex . I have pieces from omega, Panerai, Breitling, Tudor and Grand Seiko.

However, I am still a rolex fan boy at heart and despite owning different brands, I still gravitate towards rolex as the core of my collection. And honestly I never regretted buying a rolex piece but I regretted buying some of the other pieces I currently own.

On the decision of sub vs CHNR, I decided to get the sub at this stage but hopefully I will add the CHNR soon .

Thanks again all for the valuable advices.

Buddy if you come to Doha you will find great stock. Today and for the first time the tray was full. Never seen that in the last 2 - 3 years and by the way I am not a fan of DJ that is why I never considered buying any (till now).

Does the AD sell at MSRP or does he charge premium? Premium is around 10,000 Qatari Riyals in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi.

Thanks for the response. The overwhelming voting in favor of the CHNR made me little bit regret the decision. Hopefully I can fix that soon.
