It’s stay home time, so let’s share good stories.
Due to the recent inevitability of our nature as humans, some of us may unfortunately have to stay home, experience less social interaction in the flesh, I think it's time to spill!
Staying indoors gives us time to spend more time getting to know others, and I’m sure it’s going make some sense in this forum So, how old are you now? When did you start getting interested in your collecting? What’s your best Rolex collection Tell us your story. Mine is short lived. I’m 46years old. I started 3 years ago because I always loved a nice watch . Still expecting my AD’s call. Next....... |

I'm 29, started collecting about 12 or 13 years ago. I tend to buy and sell a lot, but keep a small collection of around 30-35 watches.
First watch was a day date, latest was a BLRO I picked up while traveling a couple months ago. I'll end up flipping that to get my 5th daytona. |

"LexLover", I've learned over the years, I'm never ever selling a Rolex again. Been collecting since 79 and I've let some great ones get away like my new Sub date from that year. Good luck...

To my earlier point though, you ever buy a watch because you just absolutely can't see yourself living another day without it, then get it on your wrist and shortly after, be so underwhelmed you end up parting with it? Doesn't happen a lot, but that's how a couple have been to me. |

I am 52 and a woman (not the typical watch collector). Bought my 1st watch when I was 9 or 10 with my allowance. An orange Mickey Mouse watch from Disneyland. Have worn a watch pretty much everyday since. Purchased my 1st nice watch (Tag Heuer)in my early 20's, my 1st Rolex in my mid 30's which began the path down that rabbit hole. I got up to 25-26 watches. Consolidated and now down to 14.

I’m 52 and semi retired now. My interest in watches started when I was a boy ... I’m not sure when it was exactly but I was very young. I always had a fascination with watches.
I bought my first Rolex when I was 22 years old ... hard to believe where the time has gone actually. I’ve made a few collection blunders over the years, but I’ve learned a lot since joining here. One thing, the main thing I’d do differently if I could have a do over is that I wouldn’t have sold my first. That was a mistake. Now, I’m a lot more deliberate about what I want to buy and I put a lot of thought into what I choose as I know I’m not likely to sell. YMMV |

3 of them are PM watches so they get once a week wear. The rest are on rotation. I occasionally think about selling some but I can't seem to bring myself to do it. I love them all. I do have a couple of cheaper watches I could sell but wouldn't get much for them so no point.

I started collecting watches as a kid in the mid 1970s. My grandfather collected watches and when he passed away in 1974 I received one of his pocket watches, a simple generic Swiss open face pocket watch. My uncle acquired the hunter case quarter minute repeater, the most significant time piece in the collection. I saw (and heard) the repeater and I guess I was horologically hooked. Jump a head about 12 years and I bought my first Rolex watch, 1950s stainless steel 6430 Oyster Speedking with a riveted Oyster Flex bracelet for about $150 (seemed like a lot at the time). I still have the 6430.
If you do the math from above info I'm in my mid 50s and currently have more watches than I should, the bulk of which are 4 digit reference sport models. note: My older cousin has the quarter repeater pocket watch now, which I got to see last year for first time in about 45 years. |
