Cheap moon phase watch with a huge moon display?

Hey all!

I am looking for a cheap, probably quartz, moon phase watch with a big moon phase display.

Either discontinued or in production.

Any recommendations?

This is going to be a gift for mom!

I’ve been searching eBay, and I do find some, but their moo phase display is smaller than I would like.

And then the ones that seem perfect as selling “for parts only”

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, it doesn’t have to be an actual watch brand.

I don’t care if it’s a designer brand.

I can be Timex, Seiko, Burberry, Kate Spade.

I don’t care.

New or used.

Just need some ideas and recommendations!

I would just do a search for "moon phase" on ebay, and set your criteria for cost, size and age and see what is available.
The Glycine moon phase did not look bad to me. Runs about $350.

Very nice but a little more than I wanted to spend.

I’m thinking $200ish

My mom doesn’t like jewelry, and she specially doesn’t like expensive stuff !

Thank you though!

I didn’t think about that. I’m not very familiar with online shopping to be honest.

But I will try it!

Thanks! I received it yesterday but haven't had time to open it up and play with it. I will surely post pics when I do!

I've had this Timex for almost 10 years. You can find them on eBay sometimes. Mine is NOT for sale.

Looks good. How do you set the moon phase on that one?

It’s tough haha

You use a crown to rotate the hands clockwise and as you do that the moon phase also rotate clockwise slowly

Do that until you get a full moon

Then set the date for the last full moon using a quick set date feature (thankfully)

Then keep rotating the crown and hands clockwise until today’s date

That's a pain but I have certainly heard of much worse, like the ones that use a special tool to set it.

I got lucky with my Omega. It's about as easy as it can get. Pull the crown out to the first position, clockwise sets the moon phase, counterclockwise sets the date. Crown second position sets the time.

Not sure why other manufacturers make it more difficult than it needs to be.

Wow that’s pretty neat. I assumed all moon phases used a pusher on the side of the case and a special tool.
